Meet Kraig Knight of I LIKE IT ON THE BEACH in Brickell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kraig Knight.

Born Friday May 15th in New York, far from a breadth-taking beach, Kraig moved to Jamaica at nine (9) years old. After his developing years, Kraig then moved to Miami for college where he attended the University of Miami studying Architecture and Business. He has always been a ‘dreamer’ of sorts amongst his friends as has seen enough to know and believe ANYTHING is possible ANY day you are blessed to wake up. He was born with an innate program that makes him question “why” for everything and always had a deeper urge to create things that could be helpful in some way to masses. He enjoys a peaceful and private life equally as much as the thrills. In the many ventures, he has explored from part ownership of a Miami lounge to developing beverage brands, Kraig has mostly been the creative and operational lead (behind the scenes) using all of his skills honed through self-teachings, higher education and natural gifted ability to know what people like.

I LIKE IT ON THE BEACH (ILIOTB) was birthed initially as the slogan he created for his event brand ‘@bigcupsparty’ which is a beach inspired festival/event franchise. “As Big Cups Party grew, I decided to use the slogan on merchandise and as one of our main marketing campaigns as I felt it resonated directly with the culture and lifestyle of the people I know best in Miami & Jamaica and therefore any beach loving city in the world”. Shortly after watching a shark tank episode featuring a brand called “Home Tees”, Kraig had a vision and saw potential for I LIKE IT ON THE BEACH to become its own venture providing a unique one stop shop for ‘everything beach’ from merchandise to vacation bookings while giving back to everyone’s beach enjoyment. I like it on the beach donates portions of its profit to local and global beach clean up initiatives as well as executes in house clean up efforts.

To fund his ideas, Kraig practices architectural design and provides creative services such as marketing and branding as a freelancer for private clients, small and large companies through his remote agency called “IBIS Agency” which is an acronym for ‘Incredible Brands Incredible Structures’. The Ibis bird being his alma maters mascot, Kraig created IBIS Agency to execute all of the marketing needs for his personal projects while allowing him an outlet to create freely in the areas he has most experience and interest, while once again helping others. “I see myself also getting more involved with the music business in the near future as it is also an interest of mine. I think we could also agree that music is best enjoyed on the beach.”

Kraig is now looking for the necessary good help with all his ventures as they continue to grow. “I am a one-man show for the most part from start to end in each of the mentioned endeavors. My sister, Brianna Knight has recently become a partner however she is pursuing acting and blogging projects of her own which keep her schedule very busy. I would love to have every beach lover saying ‘I LIKE IT ON THE BEACH’ and do my part at maintaining a healthy planet as it’s the only planet I intend to visit.”

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road the most challenging obstacle is gettin a steady stream of initial customers. Building a brand isn’t easy, it requires a lot of effort and consistent strategic planning and when that runs out it then requires a lot of money to make someone interested enough to buy what you’re providing. The road is not smooth! I suggest you have insurance! The aim should be to focus on solutions immediately as an issue arises spending little to no time dwelling on the problems which is easier said than done at times.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the I LIKE IT ON THE BEACH story. Tell us more about the business.
I LIKE IT ON THE BEACH is a one stop shop for “everything beach”. We are a philanthropy by nature of our efforts to keep beaches clean. People who enjoy the beach generally share similar vibes and we all get along, so we are trying to rally a community to wear their voice while being fashionable/trendy. We have a long way to go still but we are setting the foundation to become the most unique beach website in the world.

We spent time crafting our site as a unique hub to book your travel to Fiji, reserve your beachfront villa in Jamaica, find the best beach dining experience in Miami, select beach inspired decor for your home, gift merchandise to a beach loving friend in California, find the best waves to surf in Australia today, discover the newest beach gadgets that make beaching easier or more fun and much more.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The beach is a naturally therapeutic environment, far superior to any spa in my opinion. I do not see the industry going anywhere as long as we have clean beaches and water bodies to enjoy. The only trend I wish to see is more responsibility by humans.
