Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Echemendia.
Kevin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I graduated from Florida State University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in communications, with a specialty in media production. After graduation, I moved to the Tampa Bay area and began working at IMG Academy as a videographer and editor. After three years, and a pitstop at another production company, my wife and I began our company in 2015. Since then, we have developed into Two Stories Media, a production company with a studio and team of five full-timers and ten freelancers.
Has it been a smooth road?
It is never a smooth road. Regardless of how well you are doing, there will continue to be an obstacle to overcome. Currently, there is COVID but in the past, we have had to properly grow without putting ourselves and our team members in a bad spot. In 2015 when I left the production company, I was at it was weeks before getting married and I took a risk that there would be enough work to sustain me without having the standard bi-weekly paycheck. In 2017 we brought on our first full-time, our editor, then added an additional member in 2018 and again in 2019. We also moved into our new studio in 2019. We have COVID going on now, which means it is critical to keep the team employed during an unprecedented slow time. To date we have had zero furloughs and layoffs and will not during this time.

Two Stories Media is a production company that specializes in commercial, advertising and marketing content. On location or in our Clearwater, FL studio, our creative, full-service production company is ready to bring your story to life through powerful and vibrant imagery. We are unique because of our ability to be a full-service production company from pre-production, production and post-production to also facilitating gear and crew for producers and other entities who need assistance.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We see the industry going through a massive shakeup, mainly because of COVID, but one that takes us down five years. During this time, we predict there will be smaller crew sizes on sets in order to constantly stay under ten people. At times this will be better because smaller crew occasionally are more efficient, especially if the crew are accustomed to working together. Other times this means what ‘normally’ would be a two-day job could become a three-day job, thus meaning higher budgets. Over a ten year period, we see this turning back to how it was in 2019, however, where the crew sizes are larger and production days shorter.
