Meet Keroles Bebawy of New York

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keroles Bebawy.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I originally came from Egypt and eventually found myself building a life in New York City. Like many people who move to NYC, the beginning wasn’t easy. I was trying to balance school, work, personal growth, and figuring out where I truly belonged.

Photography slowly became more than just a hobby for me. I started taking photos and videos in Times Square, meeting people from all over the world every night. Over time, I realized photography gave me something powerful: the ability to connect with complete strangers in just a few seconds and create moments they would remember.

What makes my experience unique is that my work happens in real time, in one of the busiest places in the world. I learned how to approach people confidently, work under pressure, adapt quickly, and turn creativity into a business. Some nights are difficult, some nights are amazing, but every night teaches me something.

At the same time, I’ve been studying Business Administration, because I want to understand not only the creative side of photography, but also the business and marketing side behind building something long term.

Today, I’m still growing, learning, and pushing myself creatively. I’m passionate about storytelling, human connection, and capturing real emotions through photos and video. New York has challenged me in many ways, but it has also shaped who I am becoming.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road.

Moving to New York came with a lot of pressure and uncertainty. There were times when I had to balance school, work, long nights, exhaustion, and trying to survive in one of the most competitive cities in the world. Building myself from scratch in a new environment was mentally and emotionally challenging.

Working in Times Square also taught me how tough people-facing work can be. You deal with rejection constantly. Some nights you can work for hours before finding the right clients, and you have to stay motivated no matter what mood you are in. I had to learn confidence, communication, and resilience very quickly.

Another challenge was learning how to turn creativity into a real business. Photography is not only about taking good pictures — it’s also about understanding people, marketing yourself, creating trust instantly, and standing out in a city full of talent.

There were also personal challenges, including stress, self-doubt, and trying to stay focused while balancing different responsibilities. But honestly, those difficult moments shaped me the most. They forced me to grow stronger

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work as a photographer and creative based in New York City, mainly in Times Square. My work focuses on capturing people in authentic and cinematic ways through photography and short-form video. Because Times Square brings together people from all over the world, every interaction and every shoot feels different, which keeps the work exciting and creative.

I specialize in street portrait photography, lifestyle content, and creating quick but meaningful experiences for clients in real time. A big part of my work is not only taking strong photos, but also making people feel comfortable and confident very quickly, often within minutes of meeting them.

What I’m most proud of is building my work independently in one of the most competitive cities in the world. I’ve learned how to combine creativity with communication, marketing, and business skills while continuing to grow artistically.

I think what sets me apart is the environment I work in and the energy I bring to it. Working in Times Square teaches you how to adapt instantly, connect with strangers from different cultures, and create memorable moments under pressure. I enjoy capturing real emotion and movement rather than overly staged images.

Beyond photography itself, I’m also passionate about storytelling, branding, and understanding how visual content can emotionally impact people. I’m constantly learning, improving my craft, and exploring new creative ideas through both photography and video.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that might surprise people is that behind the outgoing energy and confidence I show in Times Square, I’m actually a very reflective person. A lot of my work happens in loud, crowded environments, but internally I spend a lot of time thinking deeply about people, emotions, psychology, and personal growth.

Many people see the photography side first, but they may not realize how much strategy, observation, and emotional awareness goes into what I do. I’m fascinated by human connection — how people express themselves, how confidence changes someone’s energy, and how a single moment or image can affect the way a person sees themselves.

Another thing people may not expect is that I’m balancing both creative work and studying Business Administration. I’m interested not only in art, but also in branding, marketing, communication, and building something long term from creativity.

I also think people are sometimes surprised by how driven I am behind the scenes. A lot of what I do requires discipline, consistency, and pushing through difficult nights even when nobody sees that part. The public only sees the final image or video, but not always the pressure, learning, and persistence behind it.
