Meet Kay-Lani Rivera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kay-Lani Rivera.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was a young mom navigating life while going through a divorce. I knew I had a passion for the beauty industry, but still didn’t quite understand how I could make that into a career. So I began freelancing and filming YouTube videos of my work, but I was also very open about what I was going through in my personal life as well.

Creating a platform where I shared the highs and lows of making a life for myself and my daughter and through all of the things I had to overcome I believe is what made my career become what it is today. There are so many women out there who could relate to me and still do.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Absolutely not! I have had many no’s thrown at me, as a Latina I had to work really hard to prove my worth in this industry, I also suffer from anxiety which at times takes a huge toll on me mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a beauty and lifestyle content creator. I create videos to help people all over the world understand makeup & how to properly use/wear it. I’ve been a makeup artist for over 10 years now & I’ve always had a passion for sharing my knowledge with the world. I’m most proud of knowing how many people I’ve helped along the way.

I created a lot of content for the everyday person making it easier for them to navigate makeup and I believe that sets me apart, because no matter what I’m able to creatively do I always keep in mind that my content is meant to make it easier for others to follow along.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
To never stop trying. You’re not always going to succeed at everything that you do, but as long as you never give up trying. Trials and errors are what build us up to appreciate success even more when it comes.
