Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Kennerly and Lance Friedman.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Katie and Lance. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Lance and I took a 2 month trip in 2014 to 10+ countries in Europe and to Morocco. We alternated between staying in hostels and Airbnb homes. When we stayed at the Airbnb homes we noticed a lot of times that it was a bit of a difficult process, and kind of stressful for the hosts to interrupt their day to meet us for the initial check- in. We had been on the lookout for a good business idea, and after we got back from the trip we thought that starting a business managing Airbnb homes for busy owners seemed like a good idea.
We have now been in business a little under two years and are really enjoying building our company and connecting with our clients and the guests we host.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have run into all kinds of challenges with issues at properties to eccentric guests.
Not long after starting with one of our very first properties, we had a group of beekeepers drive down from Canada to stay at a home in Coconut Grove. We arrived to do an inspection on the day they departed, and there were hundreds, or possibly thousands of bees swarming in the front yard. (The guests had apparently brought a beehive with them from Canada to help regenerate the South Florida bee population.) Luckily the bees dispersed by the end of the day.
We do our best to be prepared but there are all kinds of unexpected things that come up.
Air conditioners break, leaks happen. We just always try to stay on top of it and get things taken care of quickly.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Easy Air Rentals – what should we know?
We are a full-service vacation rental management company and we aim to make things as stress free and simple as possible for our owners. Our services include listing properties on Airbnb along with numerous other rental sites, managing guests’ requests 24/7, check-in and check-out, and providing regular cleanings between guests and maintenance.
Nearly all of our property owners live overseas or out of state so we are very attuned to making sure their properties are taken care of entirely. We have made it our mission to go above and beyond to work with each of our clients’ unique needs and preferences.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
We are all about attention to detail, and that is definitely key working in hospitality. We also genuinely love to get to know our guests and we are always excited to share our favorite restaurants and things to do here in South Florida. (This is also a great excuse for us to try new restaurants constantly!)
