Meet Juan Barcenas of Royal Marine Electric

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan Barcenas

Hi Juan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Venezuela, where I received my Electrical Engineering degree from Simon Bolivar University. When I moved to Florida in 2019, I started working in the yacht industry. I saw a need for expert, detailed, passionate businesses in the electrical/electronic field. I combined my education with my newfound knowledge of yachts and created Royal Marine – a specialized electrical and electronic service company that provides high quality work on boats & yachts.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I made the difficult decision to leave my home country of Venezuela in 2019 – leaving behind family, friends and my career. It wasn’t easy to start over in a new country, but I chose to look at the bright side – I had so many new opportunities to use my education and to help others. Creating a new business from scratch is hard, but I do my best to keep a positive and resilient attitude while looking for solutions instead of dwelling on the problems.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Royal Marine specializes in electrical and electronic installations and design on yachts. We are a Latino family owned and operated business. The quality of our work is of utmost importance to us. When clients work with us, we want them to feel heard and for their vision to be perfectly executed. We provide educated and honest suggestions, and we get our jobs done in a timely manner. We’re pleased to receive several returning customers, and many of our clients come to us from word of mouth.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Fort Lauderdale is an active, lively city! There’s plenty to explore, both on land and on sea! We love the yachting community, the beach and the fun Downtown area. The toughest part about living here is dealing with potential natural disasters, but it comes with the territory!
