Today we’d like to introduce you to Jose Almeida.
Hi Jose, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started working with my ex-wife’s brother installing floors in 2006. Eventually, I opened my own subcontracting business while also taking jobs from stores like Home Depot. When the real estate crisis hit between 2007 and 2009, work slowed down a lot. In 2011 – 2012 my second wife and I began buying short sale and foreclosure properties to renovate, resell, and rent. I also learned new skills, and when the construction market picked up again, I expanded our services beyond flooring to over 15 areas, including painting, kitchen and bathroom remodels, and more. Today, we have loyal builder clients we’ve worked with for over a decade, creating high-end homes for both private buyers and those looking to sell. Our goal for 2026 is to attract more organic clients to keep our team busy between larger building projects.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The toughest time I went through was during the real estate crisis between 2007 and 2010. Not only did I lose my job, my home, and my family, but many of my colleagues faced the same fate. Some friends left the country, and one tragically took his own life, along with other heartbreaking stories we heard. Having arrived from Brazil just two and a half years earlier, with limited English, few friends, and only a handful of relatives, being unemployed and losing everything at once made it the most difficult period I’ve ever faced.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a professional wood floor installer and carpenter, working alongside a team of skilled experts in this field and beyond. We take pride in helping our clients in the best way possible, making sure they’re happy and satisfied, while also getting to enjoy the beauty and transformation of each space we work on..
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the location, safety, cleanliness, and how close it is to all kinds of businesses. The only downside is that traffic seems to be getting worse every day. Other than that, this city is great.
