Today we’d like to introduce you to Jianni Acosta.
Jianni, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
For a long time, I felt stuck and unhappy at my Corporate job just because I feared disappointing loved ones and giving up a secure paycheck. It took a lot of guts to leave that life and step into the unknown that comes with entrepreneurship! Five months ago, my dream came true the day I decided to pursue my passion for jewelry designing all while being my own boss, and I’m so happy I made the decision to follow my dreams to create House of Jewels Miami. We have grown more than I could have ever imagined and I am so grateful for everything we have been able to accomplish in just five short months.
As I continue to follow my dreams and make them a reality, I also want to be able to make an impact in my local community. My mission is to encourage people to dream big and always follow their dreams to live a life with purpose! 30% of the proceeds from our DREAM collection (a line of inspirational jewelry) is donated quarterly to my fellow dreamers and do-ers just starting their entrepreneurship journey. This mission is so deeply personal, and if I can help change someone’s life through financial help and encouragement, my heart would be so fulfilled. I’d like to share this opportunity with more people – if they’re in a similar situation as I once was and needs funds to start their business, buy extra inventory, create a Shopify page, licenses… ANYTHING, they can apply for this grant by visiting the OUR MISSION section of my website.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think I have been pretty lucky in my journey so far, House of Jewels Miami started during times of COVID19 quarantine and has been thriving and receiving an unimaginable amount of support since day 1! Of course, we’ve had minor struggles with some suppliers and USPS delivery issues, to name a few, but we know these things are out of our control and aren’t the only ones facing these issues. We learn from our struggles and small wins everyday to continue to better ourselves for our customers. Regardless of whatever may be going on, I promise to always show up and show out for my customers, my team, and everything that makes up House of Jewels Miami.
Please tell us about House of Jewels Miami.
House of Jewels Miami is an online jewelry story specializing in high-quality fashion jewelry. We use gold-filled, gold-layered and just recently launched our tarnish and water-resistant collection, which is made of 18K gold plating over stainless steel. I take pride in using only high-quality materials at my shop, all while being budget-friendly.
I am most proud of our mission and the launch of the DREAM collection where we have committed to donating 30% of the proceeds from this collection to individuals taking the leap and just starting their entrepreneurship journey. I feel so blessed that I am able to give back and make an impact so soon into my own entrepreneurship journey. I always knew the day I had my own company. I would also use it to help change people’s lives and ultimately make the world a better place!
What sets us apart from others is that we are a small business with a huge heart, we don’t only sell jewelry for passion and profits but we sell jewelry with a purpose. A purpose to give back, make an impact, and encourage people to always dream big and live a life with purpose!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I probably would have not started with so many handmade products. Although this is what initially got me started in the Jewelry world (as I used to bead as a hobby) and is what drew people to my page, it was very time consuming. I quickly realized this method wasn’t scalable and wasn’t a realistic approach for the dreams and goals I had for House of Jewels Miami. Luckily it only took me two months to realize that and although we continue to offer some handmade and personalized pieces, most of our product portfolio now consists of more pre-made pieces, where many are designed by me.
