Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica de Vreeze.
Jessica de Vreeze is a French-American visual artist born in Paris, currently residing in Miami, Florida.
Jessica has a passion for life and loves to travel. Her life philosophy is “Believe in your dreams, it all starts with a smile”. For Jessica, photography is a gift to create and share with all. Photography preserves memories and gives a voice to those that aren’t always heard. She uses photography as my main medium of expression, but when she feels it is needed she uses spray paint, paint, drawing, music, flash mobs. Art is life and life is multiplicity. Our World, People and Places; one feels empty without the other. Her creations are both thoughtful and dreamy, they reflect how she perceives their souls. She invites you along wonderings through unexpected details, burst of colors, shapes, moments.
Currently, Jessica is participating to the second edition of the largest Women art fair ever organized in NYC. Instead of canceling the Art Fair, the organizers opened it online, displaying the artist’s pieces in 360 virtual gallery tour, encouraging us all to discover Art from home, while the Covid-19 pandemic restrains public gathering. Jessica main current art project is a women’s project untitled “Bringing the Invisible visible”. Jessica portrays women that are often left in the shadows while they accomplish the “World”. Her aim is to see recognized and praised all choices made by Women, whether it is becoming president of a country or decide to take a break in their career to step up for their family and communities. She invited artists of diverse range of creative disciplines to collaborate with her on each women’s portrait. She chose this inclusive approach to cast a new light and present through different prisme this subject, often overlooked as the actions of these women are often taken for granted. The three first women portrayed were presented during the launch of “proofsheet” fine art edition, published by APA NYC (American Photographic Artist) at the Old Print Shop Gallery New York City in April 2018. “Bringing the Invisible visible” presents twelve women, nine of them have already been chosen and portrayed. The three last will be chosen upon submission of candidacy by their peers. More information about the candidacy submission will be available on Jessica de Vreeze’s website www.jessdv.com and on her Instagram @hopeje @jessicadevreeze.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being an artist requires a lot of perseverance in all. As in all other trades, you need to master many aspects to be able to evolve grow and reach your goals. Creation time needs often to be placed aside to complete other necessary tasks. This is the hardest mountain to climb, as any artist would love being able to dedicate all their time to creation and of course sharing their work with the viewers.
Please tell us about Portrait d’Atmosphere LLC.
Jessica is known for her atmosphere and her portraits. She brings the viewers close to the soul of the people and places.
Her work is known to crosses the lines between fine art, narrative, and personal portraits. Her images when she portrays people strike as illustrating a lot of ideas having to do with human expression. The photos are not the usual, head-on smiling portrait. They show us new perspectives, from different angles and vantage points. She creates gritty, close-up intimate portraits where all of the characters seem to be comfortable and expressive, yet internally focused. In her portraits, design and composition become primary subjects within the frame.
When she brings you to places, you would see yourself in Marie Poppins ready to jump in and experience a new destination.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing.
