Meet Jeremiah Jay of Gold Diamond Entertainment in Palmetto Estates

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremiah Jay.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jeremiah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up in a Christian home, I fell in love with music at a young age. I participated in the choir and taught myself how to play the drums at the young age of five years old. Following my love of music, I would freestyle in the car and at home with my stepdad over beats that he produced Just to play around and have fun. It wasn’t until the 6th grade where I took writing lyrics seriously. I remember writing poems to girls I had a crush on and later turning those poems into song lyrics. While playing flag and tackle football, I began to work on my craft at home and during lunch and P.E., I began listening to mainstream artists like Wale. Rick Ross, Kid Cudi, Lupe Fiasco, T.I, Lil Wayne, and B.O.B. trying to find my style. Music became an escape from being bullied by my classmates because of my speech impediment. Music and poetry became a way to express myself.

In the 8th grade (2011), I purchased a cheap gaming mic and headphone set and used it to record songs using my dad’s laptop and Mixcraft. I released songs on SoundCloud and conducted my first five-song mixtape titled “The New Me.” I handed out the mixtapes to friends and people around school and received good feed back. That gave me the confidence to try out for the school talent show and make the cut. Without ever performing in front of a crowd, I did such a good job that kids in school were asking for autographs and pictures with me. I continued releasing music and poetry on SoundCloud trying to find my true sound. On the last few weeks of school, Pop Artist Jake Miller came to my school Palmetto Middle and performed songs from his mixtape and he not only influenced my sound but gave me the inspiration that I can chase my dreams. He was the catalyst that sparked my want to turn this into a career. Throughout high school and college, I continued performing at school shows, open mics, and participating in poetry contests and I continued maturing and improving my music. I now have music on Apple Music and Spotify and I am currently working on publishing my first book titled “Float” aimed to be released in 2022. The boom will feature poems of mine and will be a book about dreams and living life to the fullest. I founded my own record label and entertainment group “Gold Diamond Entertainment” in 2017 based in Miami, in hopes to change the music business and industry in Miami. Give local artists and creators a chance to shine. Like myself have power over my music. My goal in life and in music is to allow my music to help children and people chase their dreams, no matter the circumstance. Everyone has a dream and everyone has a right to dream. #dreamforever is what I live by.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey definitely has not been an easy road. I used to allow people to place doubt and insecurity in my mind because of my speech impediment, but I have yet allowed it to hold me back. I think the biggest challenge was facing and overcoming problems at home, depression, and bullying. But I see it has a positive because I am still here and alive, I haven’t fulfilled my purpose yet. Also, being an artist of any sorts in Miami is kind of tough because it seems like no one supports you and everyone is in competition against one another. But no one said it would be easy right?

Please tell us about Gold Diamond Entertainment – what should we know?
I do a lot of different things actually, ranging from making music, being a spoken word artist, poet, drummer, founder and CEO of a record label and entertainment group. You name it, I have my feet in about everything. I think for the most part im known for my music and poetry. I’m starting to receive a little local buzz around the streets! I’m most proud of my ability to try new things and be good at it. When I first started rapping, I strictly stuck to the hip/hop and rap genre, now, I find myself transitioning more to the pop genre or blending the two together to create a unique sound. I feel like im very versatile in my craft.

What are your plans for the future?
I’ve always dreamed big. My plans for the future are writing and publishing a book, opening up a coffee shop, poetry, music and hookah lounge, and starting a non-profit charity/organization that will benefit the future of the next generation. I believe all of my plans circle back to my overall way of life or motto. “Dream forever.”
