Meet Jennifer Sylvian, DDS, MPH, FALSC, DASBA of Breathe and Blossom Pediatric Dentistry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Sylvian, DDS, MPH, FALSC, DASBA.

Hi Jennifer, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey into pediatric dentistry has always been guided by compassion, curiosity, and a deep desire to help children thrive beyond their smiles. From the very beginning, I knew I wanted to work with children, but as I grew in my career, I realized that true oral health is about so much more than teeth. I became fascinated by the connection between oral development, airway health, and whole-body wellness, and that passion shaped the way I practice today.

After years of specialized training and collaboration with incredible airway and myofunctional experts, I founded Breathe and Blossom Pediatric Dentistry in Fort Lauderdale. My mission “Leading with Love, Growing with Care” reflects everything I believe in: creating a nurturing space where children feel safe, confident, and cared for. Every day, I’m honored to partner with families to promote prevention, early intervention, and joyful dental experiences that help little ones breathe, grow, and blossom into their healthiest selves.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has shaped me into the clinician and person I am today. Opening a practice rooted in airway-focused, whole-body pediatric care meant stepping outside the traditional model of dentistry. There were moments of uncertainty, especially when introducing concepts like early intervention, growth guidance, and myofunctional therapy to families who were used to conventional dental care.

Building Breathe and Blossom Pediatric Dentistry from the ground up was also both exciting and humbling. Balancing the demands of entrepreneurship, patient care, and continuing education pushed me to grow in ways I never expected. But through it all, I stayed grounded in my “why”: helping children breathe better, sleep better, and truly thrive. Those moments when a child’s health and confidence start to blossom make every obstacle along the way completely worth it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Breathe and Blossom Pediatric Dentistry?
Our mission is simple yet powerful: to lead with love and help every child grow with care. We’re not just focused on teeth, we’re focused on the whole child. Our approach integrates airway health, growth and development, and functional wellness to create a foundation for lifelong health, not just healthy smiles.

We specialize in airway-focused pediatric dentistry, early growth guidance, and myofunctional and tongue-tie care, providing gentle, individualized treatment plans that address the root cause of dental and developmental concerns. What truly sets us apart is our commitment to connection. We take time to listen, to educate, and to partner with families every step of the way.

Our space was intentionally designed to feel calm, nurturing, and empowering for both children and parents. I’m incredibly proud of the brand we’ve built, it’s warm, intentional, and rooted in empathy. We don’t just treat teeth; we nurture confidence, promote healthy breathing, and help children blossom into their brightest, healthiest selves.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My biggest piece of advice is to stay deeply connected to your “why”, the reason God put you on this Earth. When challenges arise, it’s your purpose that will keep you grounded and moving forward. It’s easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing or to feel pressured to follow a traditional path, but the most meaningful growth happens when you trust your God-given vision and values.

I also wish I had known how important it is to give yourself grace in the process. Building something authentic, whether it’s a career, a practice, or a passion, takes time, patience, and courage. Surround yourself with mentors who inspire you, invest in continued learning, and don’t be afraid to do things differently if it means staying true to your mission.

For me, leading with love and intention has opened doors I never imagined. When you operate from that place of genuine care and purpose, you don’t just create success; you create impact.
