Meet Jennifer Fidder

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Fidder.

Jennifer, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started out as a personal fitness trainer more than 13 years ago. Back in Germany, personal training wasn’t something you could actually do as your fulltime job. So I used the training to finance my studies and became a social psychologist. I moved to Miami in 2010 and shortly after I started my own business. I realized that providing clients with a kickass workout plan and nutrition advice is often not enough to keep them engaged and create lasting change. That’s when I began digging more and more into the aspects of mindset and habit coaching. I wanted to be able to make a real difference in my clients’ lives.

While I was able to help my clients better understand how their mind works and establish healthier routines, that gave them the power to make lasting changes, I still had the feeling something was missing. I finally found out about the CONTROL System, which opened up a whole new world to me and gave me the ability to help my clients make changes to their behaviors and thought patterns much faster than I have ever experienced before!

The CONTROL System was developed in the UK and is a form of mindset coaching that allows us to directly communicate with the subconscious mind to make changes where unwanted behaviors and thoughts originate and are being stored. This allows us to address fears and phobias, self-confidence and self-worth issues, stress and anxiety, overeating and emotional eating, and basically all unwanted patterns we learned over the years but weren’t born with. I can now teach my clients how to control their mind to finally get the body and life they always wanted. Worldwide there are only around 75 CONTROL Practitioners and I am currently the only one in Florida.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When we (my ex-husband and I) moved to Miami, we didn’t know a lot of people here. We didn’t have a job, no apartment, and our English wasn’t the best either. It took me about three years to adjust to the different culture and I thought about quitting and going back to Germany more than I want to admit. I worked in residential gyms, hotels, and retail to pay the bills. And opening my own business was a whole different challenge. I didn’t know anything about how to do my taxes, where to find help with marketing, how to hire an assistant, etc.

It sure wasn’t an easy journey and I am still learning a lot about myself, about business, and this country. But I am very grateful for all the opportunities and all my clients who’ve supported me and believed in me enough to trust me with their health and wellbeing!

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I work mainly with women who are successful in their careers and yet struggle to reach their fitness goals or are unhappy with other areas of their life. They are high achievers who are great at what they do but somehow are having trouble to stick to their diet, follow a consistent workout routine, or they have certain beliefs and behavior patterns that are holding them back from reaching the next level.

Oftentimes they are fully aware of what it is they have to do to achieve their goals but they are not able to implement it. That’s where I come into play. Together we take a look at their goals, their current habits, and find out what exactly it is that is holding them back from achieving the results they are looking for. Based on all of these factors, we develop a unique plan to get them to where they want to be when it comes to their health, fitness, and overall wellbeing.

The services I offer include one-on-one personal fitness training (in-person and virtual via Skype/Zoom), nutrition advice, online coaching, mindset coaching, as well as Better Mind – Better Body – Better Life seminars and workshops. Due to my background in Social Psychology and my education as a CONTROL Practitioner, I am able to offer a holistic approach to fitness and health that is absolutely unique and I take pride in the fact that I can offer a service that can’t be found anywhere else in Florida.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
When I was very young, my dad was a bodybuilder. He used to bring me to the gym with him and I was allowed to climb on the leg press machine to be his weight. This is where I was first introduced to the gym environment. And even though it took me until my early 20s to decide I wanted a career in the fitness and wellness industry, this is probably where my love for this field originated.
