Today we’d like to introduce you to Janiah Slaughter.
Janiah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Since 8th grade, I have always had a passion to help other young girls like myself who were destined for greatness but not only that who had the drive and passion to want more out of life. I would encourage young women to love themselves to be bold and to trust God with whatever you are doing in life. When I got to 9th grade I really started finding out who I was as a young girl and seeking my purpose which God had placed on my life.
Things were bumpy 9-1oth grade year of high school but by the time 11th-grade year hit, I fully understood my purpose and what I was called to do. I would speak to younger girls constantly and pour into them with the knowledge I had from older adults and my experience which I have shared with the younger girls to encourage them and to motivate them. I was not this confident woman that you all see today. I use to struggle with insecurities and much more. But by the love and grace of God, I am confident and I know who I am.
When senior year of high school hit, I began to start a business after my name ”TheJaniahK.” I would first start off with inspirational videos on Instagram and it took off from there. My name was always something more than just a regular name (Ja- meaning God), (Niah- meaning purpose). By January 2019 is when I started selling glitter eyeshadow palettes and turned it into a brand. Makeup was always a plus for me. I wanted other girls to feel more confident by a little glitter in their life at an affordable price to look good. By April, I launched an eyelash line.. that as well has been successful.
My overall goal with my business was to start an inspiration line that I could help other women to be confident, love God and help them with their business starting out in entrepreneurship. Also late April I began to offer services for web design and social media management for entrepreneurs who are just starting out or who has also been in the game for a while, I know how hard it is starting out young and trying to get a website, graphics, and guidance and someone who genuinely wants to see others grow and flourish within the community.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a tough road. Sometimes we don’t always have the finances to continue our business, and there have been times where I did not have the money to keep going, but it was my passion and purpose that allowed me to keep going and finding ways to make my business happen.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the ”TheJaniahK” story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in, Social Media Managing, Web Design and Influencing young girls on Instagram. I also sell cosmetics line within my brand ”TheJaniahK.” I Offer 25mm Mink lashes and Eyeshadow palettes. I’m very proud of the many accomplishments I have made within a short amount of time. I’m most proud of my consistency and hard work I have put in my brand.
Many things set me apart from others. My drive and passion to be successful is the main thing, but I also care about my community and other young hustlers we have. I believe in professional and affordable pricing to help everyone which I believe we don’t have now in this generation everyone is after money and aren’t truly into helping and educating.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were just starting out?
If I had to start over, I would have waited until everything was fully prepared and ready to go out instead of rushing.
