Meet Janelys Gonzalez of Miami / South Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janelys Gonzalez.

Hi Janelys, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Miami and have always been drawn to storytelling and creativity. My passion really started at Immaculata-La Salle High School, where I fell in love with being behind the camera while working on the school’s broadcast program. That experience sparked my interest in content creation and visual storytelling, and I knew I wanted to pursue a career where I could combine creativity with communication.

As I continued my education, I explored a variety of career paths that helped shape my professional journey. I worked as an Aquatics Director at Born 2 Swim Aquatic Academy, spent time as a kindergarten teacher’s assistant, and gained experience in several other roles before ultimately discovering my passion for social media management and marketing.

Along the way, I started my own photography business, which began as a creative outlet and has since grown into a full-service creative brand. Today, I provide social media management for businesses and brands, photography for a variety of clients and events, and content creation services designed to help organizations tell their stories effectively. I’m passionate about continuing to learn, adapt, and grow in the ever-evolving worlds of photography, social media, and digital marketing, and I’m always looking for new ways to sharpen my skills and better serve my clients.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a straight path, but honestly, that’s what has made the journey so rewarding. One of the biggest challenges was balancing work, school, and building my photography business while trying to establish myself in a creative industry.

Starting a business from scratch taught me quickly that success doesn’t happen overnight. There were plenty of late nights, learning curves, and moments of trial and error as I invested in new equipment, developed my skills, and worked to stand out in a highly competitive field. At times, it felt like I was constantly learning something new, and in many ways, I still am.

The creative and social media world moves fast, with trends, platforms, and best practices changing all the time. Staying current while continuing to grow professionally has been one of the biggest challenges, but it has also been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey. Looking back, every obstacle became an opportunity to learn, adapt, and improve. Those experiences helped shape not only my career but also the way I approach creativity, problem-solving, and lifelong learning today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Today, I specialize in social media management, content creation, and photography. I work with businesses, schools, nonprofits, and brands to tell their stories through engaging content, strategic marketing, and authentic visuals. My work includes social media strategy, content creation, photography, videography, and brand storytelling.

One thing I am most proud of is building my photography business from the ground up and growing it into a creative brand that serves a variety of clients. Seeing the impact my work has on helping organizations connect with their audiences and grow their presence is incredibly rewarding.

What sets me apart is my ability to combine creativity with strategy. My background in photography and marketing allows me to create content that is not only visually appealing but also purposeful and results-driven. I am always looking for ways to learn, adapt, and stay ahead in the ever-evolving world of social media and digital marketing.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest piece of advice is to trust the process and stay consistent, even when things don’t seem to be moving as quickly as you’d like. Everyone’s journey looks different, and some of the opportunities that shaped my career came from paths I never expected to take.

More than anything, I wish I had known how important my faith and relationship with God would be in my journey. Looking back, there were so many moments when doors closed, plans changed, or things didn’t work out the way I wanted them to. At the time, it was frustrating, but I can now see how God was guiding me toward opportunities that were better aligned with His plan for my life.

My advice is to keep learning, stay open to new experiences, and trust where God is leading you. The skills you gain, the people you meet, and even the challenges you face all serve a purpose. Stay faithful, work hard, and remember that success is not always about having the perfect plan. Sometimes it’s about being willing to follow the path God places in front of you.
