Meet Janel Kuhl of Coconut grove

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janel Kuhl.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Grove Gallery & Interiors is a family business, we opened in 1986 founded by my parents Frank and Sheila Kuhl. It started as a picture framing business and grew into a interior design center from there. I joined the business in 2008 with a background in hospital and hotel design. With my background I was bale to grow our business to do concierge design and home renovation services in addition to the beautiful home furnishings we already offer. We love making spaces bespoke to fit the customers style and needs.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Along the way the standard challenges of business needs, staffing and the realities of economic trends have challenged us. We have been lucky enough to have an excellent and stable client base who have known us for 40 years and trust us to make their design. dreams come true. We have always relied on our overarching philosophy or excellent customer service and quality which has seen us through good times and bad.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What we love most is making a space that speaks to the end user. Customized and unique creative solutions fit just for you. I always tell clients my goal is that when people come to their home they say – “Wow! You have great taste!” Not who is your designer?

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Be brave, Focus on the customer and what they need. Love what you do. Finally dont forget to keep your finger on the financial pulse of the business.
