Meet Jackie Gerasia of Browyonce in West Palm Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Gerasia.

Jackie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was working for ten years as an orthodontic assistant and was bored. I started school to become an esthetician in 2017, not knowing what route I would take but just knowing I wanted something more for myself. I couldn’t picture the 9-5 life for me for the rest of my life. I would work from 7 am-6 pm and go to school from 6-10 pm. I barely had any money to even pay for my school, but I literally begged them to let me stay and that I would pay it off as soon as I could. I wasn’t really into doing facials in school. I did not like having to touch someone’s face for that long in silence! ( I like to talk ) I found brow girls on Instagram like Kelley Baker (I love her) that were successful in business by ONLY waxing brows and I thought to myself that could be something I would like to get into. They don’t focus much on brow shaping in school, so I would go home and watch and study brows on Instagram. I practiced on all of the girls in my school, trying to rehab their misshapen eyebrows back to life. I started doing brows in my living room on my days off from my full time job. I would post on my Instagram and would take friends, girls I used to be friends with in high school, people I met through tightening their braces LOL. At the time, I imagined this to be something that would bring money in on the side for me. After getting pregnant and having my son, I actually was able to quit my job as a dental assistant and do brows full time. I had built up a clientele that had allowed me to be busy and fully booked four days a week and I was also able to take care of my son and be a stay at home Mom. I feel lucky that I get to do this every day and call it a job. I literally have never been more proud of anything in my life than I am of how I built my business from my living room.

Has it been a smooth road?
Not smooth at all. Dealing with women is hard, especially in an industry as tough as the beauty industry. It’s easy for women to be jealous of other women being successful, which leads to drama. But, I think the hardest part of owning a business is the fact that I am also a Mom. Trying to juggle a family while also trying to cater to my clients sometimes gets overwhelming. I feel like I always have to be on my phone. I am always trying to fit girls into my schedule to accommodate them, which in turn takes time away from my son and my family.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Browyonce story.
We specialize in shaping natural eyebrows with wax, precision tweezing and trimming, and the henna stain is used to give your brows a temporarily filled in look. Henna usually lasts two to four weeks on the skin and fades from the skin over time.

I feel like we have created a high end brow waxing environment. When you come to our studio, it’s a personalized one on one experience where its just you and your brow artist and you feel like you’re at home. No pain, you don’t leave with burnt or irritated skin, we use the best products out there. I have done a lot of research and tried many different products to make sure we’re using the best of the best. I really put a lot of LOVE into brow shaping and I feel as though that makes a huge difference. Not everyone wants microblading or tattooed brows and my goal is to make women fall in love with their NATURAL beauty. And show them what they have is enough!

We also have a girl, Natalie, who offers quick, effective skincare services like chemical peels and microdermabrasion to bring a little life back to your skin!

What are your plans for the future? What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
I really don’t have any huge plans! I like to take things one step at a time and see where that takes me. That’s how my business has grown and I feel like its less stress or pressure that way. The one thing I really would like to get in to is training other brow artists in my brow shaping techniques. So hopefully one on one classes will be available soon.
