Meet Isabela Cordova

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabela Cordova.

Isabela, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started when I moved to Florida going into the 6th grade. I was such a shy and introverted girl who just wanted to fit in with everyone else. It took me awhile to get used to living in Jacksonville from California because of all these drastic differences in almost everything and the anxiety from moving constantly with a military family. Soon enough high school came around and the pressure of finding out what I wanted to do after high school hit me harder than anything. It seemed as if everyone knew what they were doing and already had their plans made, making me feel like I couldn’t do anything; as if I didn’t have a calling like most people. Now, growing up as an ‘ outcast ‘ , it made me see things differently than I would say most people. I would always do my own thing and just observe what other people did and viewed things. Perspective is an important concept to me because each and every one of us have our own perspective. We all see things differently, each with different stories. That’s when the feeling hit me. The feeling of complete joy and nirvana. The best feeling ever. As soon as I started filming something so small of a perspective of mine, it gave me hope. It gave me hope of making so many people feel the feeling I get when I put together such short simple videos: warmth to my soul and heart. Over the years iv’e made a handful of videos for everyone to see/feel how beautiful our world and our life is. I even made a video for a contest at school. I didn’t win it, but just the thought of knowing people have saw it and let it soak in is good enough for me. As of right now i’m trying my all to just make my idea of creating joy and creativeness bigger and better. It all takes time and being just graduated, starting college, is also a stress, but film is my passion and my love so nothing will ever stop me from sharing that with the world.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it wasn’t a very smooth road but my friends and family have always made it better. High school and the need to get all good grades for college because money is tough at times was a struggle when all I wanted to do was film. But now that i’m graduated I have a bit more time on my hands. I still have a job and the priority of school first, but i’m doing this all for the goal of doing what I love. Working my 4th food job and going to college isn’t what I want, but to get to where I need to be for my passion, I have to. Getting to our dreams aren’t always so easy to get to, but the work and effort is worth it.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Filming is what I’ve always loved to do. I make short and simple videos of how I see our world. I enjoy capturing raw moments of what my friends and I do in our free time. Editing the clips I get into one wholesome video is something that captivates me. I could spend hours and hours editing a video to get it to something beautiful. What sets me apart from others to me would be my perspective, like I said earlier. I like to view the beauty out of everything I can, because at the end of the day were all human, we all feel every emotion, good and bad, so the fact that I can record all of those feelings and make something absolutely captivating and amazing for others, it touches my heart.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Some things that are most important to my success is eyes to view my work and the right equipment/programs to give great quality content. The drive and passion I have for filming is already in me and will always be in me, I just have to find more opportunities and time to create big things for the future. Malachy Poinan and Cooper Jackson have also lead me to success with their dedication and hard work. They’ve given me inspiration and advice over the years.
