Meet Isabel Brinck

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabel Brinck.

Isabel Brinck

Hi Isabel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a full-time visual artist, mainly focused on painting, born in Chile (1965) and based in Miami for the last 20 years. I hold a degree in Graphic Design from the University of Chile and worked for 10 years under the mentoring of the Chilean artist Jaime Ferrer. Since 2013, I’m under the mentoring of the Cuban artist Nestor Arenas.

My work has been shown in numerous individual and collective exhibitions in Latin America, the United States, and Europe, and collectors from more than 20 different countries have acquired it. I’m a multi-talented eclectic artist skilled in several artistic mediums, including oil, acrylics, digital collage, mixed media, and engraving, and a very creative hands-on professional with expertise also in graphic design, art direction, and project management.

Upon dedicating myself to art, I was mainly interested in painting because of the challenge of communicating through it, especially during a time when everything is done digitally. I studied Graphic Design and dedicated myself to it for many years (when it was developed manually).

I painted in parallel to my profession, more recreationally. It was precisely the development of the digital world that made me fully adopt painting as a professional activity. The need to communicate in a gestural, more organic, and more natural way, prompted my adjustment in career path—around the year 2000.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being a full-time artist comes with its fair share of struggles and challenges. Making a living through art can be a daunting task. The uncertain and often unpredictable income can cause financial stress, making it difficult to sustain a stable lifestyle. The competitive nature of the art world demands relentless dedication and perseverance.

Artists constantly face the pressure of staying innovative and relevant, which can lead to self-doubt and creative blocks. Additionally, the lack of consistent recognition and appreciation for our work can take an emotional toll. Despite these hardships, I persist in the pursuit of my passion, driven by the desire to share my perspective with the world and create something truly extraordinary.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I paint recognizable and unique art. Creating recognizable art is both a tremendous challenge and a significant achievement. Only for that, I feel special and apart from many others.

In today’s fast-paced and saturated art world, standing out and establishing a unique artistic identity is no easy task. It requires a delicate balance between staying true to one’s artistic vision while also appealing to a broader audience.

Izable art is vital for an artist’s career as it acts as a calling card, distinguishing them from the sea of talented creators. Despite the challenges, the pursuit of recognizable art is essential for artists who seek to leave a lasting impact on the world, like me. My art is a testament to my dedication, passion, and unyielding determination to express my unique voice through my creations.

Ultimately, the reward lies not only in achieving recognition but also in leaving an indelible mark and connecting with the hearts and minds of those who experience their art, thoughts, and impressions flow freely onto the canvas.

What does success mean to you?
Success is an elusive yet compelling concept that varies from person to person. It’s not merely about material wealth or accolades but also the journey of self-discovery and personal growth. True success lies in finding fulfillment and purpose in one’s endeavors, embracing failures as stepping stones, and cherishing meaningful connections with others.

It is the art of continuously striving to be the best version of oneself, fueled by passion and perseverance, and leaving a positive impact on the world, no matter how big or small. Success is not a destination but an ever-evolving, inspiring quest that makes life truly remarkable.
