Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Rose.
Tim, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Back in 2012, one of the owners of Imagine That Events and Entertainment Matt Trostle, who has an extensive background in putting together events and working with a lot of live entertainment throughout South Florida, presented the idea of opening a booking agency to Kerri Carballo and myself. By 2013 Imagine That Events and Entertainment was a licensed by the State and were working booking promotional models for events in the area, booking live entertainment for a cruise line along with 2 corporate accounts covering 5 weekly venues. Through hard work and determination, we steadily expanded our client base and now book top notch live talent for 17 weekly venues as well as numerous cities, weddings, festivals and private events. We also book music state wide for Ron Jon Surf Shop as well as DJs for Sprint and Boost Mobile across the state.
Imagine That has accomplished this by providing all of our clients with the utmost attention. We are easy to work with and keep an open line of communication with our entertainers and our clients to ensure every detail is covered on both ends of the spectrum. Our roster of live talent enjoys working for us because we are fair and treat everyone with respect and dignity. Our entertainers are a direct representation of our agency so it is essential that they are treated properly.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every new business will go through some growing pains however we feel that the way we decided to grow our business helped shield us from some of the major struggles that a growing business may face. Our goal has always been for slow to steady growth. Doing this was a smart move for us financially. We have not had the need to make drastic moves because the business was progressing too quickly. We have seen a lot of businesses go under because they could not handle the quick growth they were involved with. It is easy to make a big financial mistake when you see a lot of quick growth.
As far as other obstacles we have been able to avoid we think is part of the magic of is pairing up your idea of the perfect entertainers with the clients and venue owners.
Everyone has a different perception of what great talent is. A big part of what we do to is to make sure we are hitting the mark and bringing the exact type of vibe that the client is looking for. A venue may only have a budget for a solo artist and expect the solo acoustic act to have the same energy as a live band. At Imagine That Events and Entertainment we have to make sure that the client understands exactly what they are getting so there are no surprises. We are lucky in the sense that we have been able to enhance the live entertainment in every account that we work with that was already booking acts before we started working with that venue. This combined with booking our best talent for our newly opened venues has afforded us keeping almost every venue we have started. We have a great track record.
Some agencies struggle with these factors which makes it difficult to be a success as a booking agency.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Imagine That Events and Entertainment – what should we know?
Imagine That Events and Entertainment is a licensed and insured talent agency. We supply great local and regional live talent to a number of weekly venues along with high quality entertainment for weddings, corporate events and accounts as well as festivals throughout Florida. We specialize in live music and DJs however we consider ourselves a full-fledged talent agency. We have a bevy of talent including magicians, variety acts, karaoke entertainers, promotional models, dance troupes, instrumentalists, cirque acts, face painters and more. We also have professional photographers and videographers on staff as well as interactive photo booths.
We are proud of helping the local music scene in South Florida thrive. We are also proud to be a successful small business in this wonderful paradise we call home.
We feel that our commitment to both our clients and talent is what sets us apart from the rest. We always pay our talent weekly so there is no lag time on payment to our acts which they really appreciate. There is no reason for them to wait for us to get paid from the client before they get paid for their services. I know of a number of other agencies that operate in that fashion.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
In this business, like most others, you have to provide a consistent product to be successful. The people that depend on you need to know that you are going to be there for them when they need it.
We work in a live environment and an everyday all-day business. Once you are known to be a company that is on top of whatever may happen then you have the trust of everyone involved in and with your business. We feel that it’s an invaluable trait that will keep Imagine That Events and Entertainment alive and well for a very long time.
Besides that, it is very important to have a wide variety of professional talent in your roster.
Different clients are looking for varying genres of music and some clients always ask for “something out of the box” to add to their ongoing events they already have done in the past. We pride ourselves knowing that we are ready for exactly whatever requests they have.
