Meet Hanna Marks of Wherehab in Palm Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hanna Marks.

Hanna, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I got started with business when I was in elementary school. I would buy candy in bulk and then sell it to my friends at school. I enjoyed making profits, but I was also a very generous child if I had something and my friend didn’t I would give them mine, so they would feel happy. Giving was always one of my favorite things.

Of course, my parents didn’t appreciate it very much. My mom owned an ice cream parlor and she had me helping out as a child and an official employee by the time I was thirteen. While I was in high school I managed the entire business for her, I did inventory, hired staff, and payroll. I was a full-time dual-enrolled student at sixteen and graduated high school a year early at seventeen.

I went to college and had my own cleaning company for a year. I was offered a job at a drug treatment center in college, and this is where I found the motivation to start Wherehab. The Treatment center treated the clients like objects rather than people, and I witnessed many laws being broken. I used my desire to help people and my business skills to open Wherehab- yelp for drug treatment centers.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
People who have smooth existences don’t change the world. I had to overcome many struggles to be the person I am today. I watched both parents battle cancer as a child and unfortunately lost my father when I was nine. I overcame trauma and adversity, but for a long time felt like a victim to the world. I began battling with my own drug addiction from ages 11-17.

Fortunately, I hit an emotional bottom and found sobriety, but I had to completely restructure the way I thought.

I had to let go of the victim mentality and regain power in my life. I now believe that things don’t happen to me but for me, and I know that every circumstance I have experienced no matter how dark has beauty and can be used to help others.

Please tell us about Wherehab, Inc.
Wherehab, is a community resource that allows people to share their experiences in treatment centers. It can be good or bad. We also have developed an elite network of providers, that treatment centers are vetted and then invited into. Wherehab is not owned or affiliated with any treatment centers and neither are our employees or advisory board members.

Wherehab is the only treatment finder that does not allow treatment centers to advertise. We value our data and unbiased approach. We are also launching a mobile application in April 2018 that tracks outcome data for treatment centers using character building tools and social media.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing, I do not believe in failure or focusing on anything other than how can I be the best version right now.
