Hi Gregg & Wendy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We began our journey into pet foods, nutrition and supplements many years ago, because of our cherished furbaby, GiGi. She was a puppy with many issues, including allergies, autoimmune disorders and vaccinosis. Through learning about pet nutrition, proper supplements and a healthy lifestyle, GiGi thrived into a very healthy dog. Wendy always had a hand in dog rescue and fostering pets and her love for animals has always been her passion. We decided to parlay this passion into a family owned pet market to be able to share our knowledge and expertise with other pet parents. When the store originally opened, GiGi was here each day to greet her customers and offer a friendly lick or ask for a belly rub. We love to spend time educating pet parents on the importance of the proper foods, treats etc. to help their pets live a long, happy life. We at GiGi’s Pet Market strive to stand out as a premier destination for pet owners seeking high-quality products and exceptional customer service, along with providing a diverse selection of pet supplies, including holistic options and premium raw foods, pet accessories, beds, treats and toys. We are committed to guiding pet owners in making informed decisions tailored to their furry friends’ unique needs and provide personalized attention to each customer, with staff members taking the time to understand individual requirements and offering tailored recommendations. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We opened in June of 2019 and things took off right away. In early 2020 the Covid pandemic hit and although this presented it’s own set of challenges, it also opened up many opportunities for us. We had continued growth due to the large increase of pet ownership, since people were confined to their home, worked from home etc. Our biggest challenge is overcoming and providing awareness about the importance of a high quality diet due to all of the misconceptions in the industry, and the abundance of lower quality foods.
How do you think about happiness?
Giving our time and knowledge to help every dog and cat that we encounter get the best of everything. We love our store and our customers and look forward to work each day, as there is always a pet/pet parent that needs some extra guidance and we strive to be their best resource for information.
