Meet Graff Kelly of Fort Lauderdale Scavenger Hunt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Graff Kelly.

Graff, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We started in 1999 in Key West, Florida offering daily scavenger hunts that anyone can join. This evolved over the years to offering custom and personalized hunts for wedding groups getting married in Key West. The hunts were a great way for people to meet, mix and mingle in a fun environment before the wedding. We also began offering team building scavenger hunts for corporate groups and then upped the excitement with a digital photo scavenger hunt twist.

About 11 years ago we were contacted by a former corporate group who had used our services but were taking their next trip to South Beach and asked if we could design something there. We jumped at the chance to design an amazing fun event covering the history, beach and Art Deco architecture.

The group loved it and we started getting referrals from local hotels for more groups. We opened a South Beach office shortly after and then Fort Lauderdale Scavenger Hunt began 8 years ago. Every hunt is custom designed to meet the needs of each group so if we have a fun bachelor or bachelorette party then we plan the hunt to feature bars, restaurants and fun upbeat locations.

If it’s a corporate group then we focus on the lighter side of team building and incorporate a mix of everything to highlight the history and culture of the different areas that we cover. We’ve set up hunts for as few as 4 people to as many as 500 people. We have a fantastic team that spends everyday making sure our visitors and locals have a great time with us.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been a wonderfully smooth ride. We’ve always had 5-star reviews from our participants and the business has evolved since smartphones were introduced.

Please tell us about Fort Lauderdale Scavenger Hunt.
We specialize in scavenger hunts in Fort Lauderdale beach, South Beach, and Key West. Each event is custom designed for each group and it’s not a standard iPhone app type of event. It’s actually created, designed, and fully staffed with each group’s needs in mind. We’re proud that in 18 years we’ve never had a single complaint about any part of our services or events.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wish smartphones had been around in 1999. It would have made life much easier. We used to use Polaroid cameras but now everything is digital and makes for a much better experience.
