Meet Graciela Montich

Hi Graciela, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
It was wonderful that I was able to have my first experience in art at the age of 8 in primary school when I studied painting and ceramics. Since then, I have explored a wide range of forms of creative expression, from making bijoutery, bags, clothing, and painting.

I was born in Cordoba Argentina , got a degree from the Catholic University of Cordoba, and the Node Center for Curatorial Studies in Berlin Germany. I held workshops and seminars on painting and drawing, did residences for visual artists in Naples, Italy and Exhibits my artwork in Argentina, Uruguay, Italy, Monte Carlo, France, England, and the United States.

I am the  curator at Outing Art Gallery Miami and Lucid Design District Miami where , exposes and promotes mid-career artists. I carried out curatorial work for AMA Foundation Asociacion-Monaco-Argentina in MonteCarlo for Art Monaco, and since 2009, I have been a charitable activity in the Solidarity Commission of the Country of Las Delicias Cordoba, where I am the exhibition coordinator of Argentinian artists where all the benefits obtained are donated to the Bank of Food in Argentina.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Art is one one-way path! Once you start, it is not easy to put it down. My mind is always looking for creativity, new ideas, and new techniques and this is my engine in life. So things are never as easy as I would like them to be, but I always find a way to do it. My entire family help me to do this!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Through my work, I can express my interest in the natural world, which I define as the physical and material world that remains in its original state without the intervention of human beings, as opposed to their artificial world. From this concept, I studied the living nature and the way in which humans, surrealistically, could introduce themselves to it to achieve a subject-subject relationship.

I work with oils on pure linens from Chile. Artworks are performed on a real scale so everyone who sees them feels invited to participate in this ideal world.
