Meet Giancarlo Gedler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Giancarlo Gedler. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Giancarlo Gedler wears multiple hats as a fashion designer, influencer, avid traveler, author, TV host, and creative director. Most recently, traveling/working with a very selective variety of brands, from Marriot Hotels, Atala Hotel Paris, Ritz-Carlton El Dorado, PR.

Giancarlo always shared a passion for fashion and contemporary design. His enthusiasm led him to establish MR. Gedler  and The Lifestyler 101 Show: a blog and  a podcast where he is recognized as style creator, from interior styling, branding, and personal styling,  knew for his tasteful dapper and street style while traveling.

Giancarlo serves as Creative Director for the iconic brand GEDLER. In his role, Giancarlo designs and oversees all the collections. Before having his brand, Giancarlo served as Global Director of Haus of Gedler. He managed all creative services for an established designer and upper-coming brands and styling for national campaigns in partnership with other innovators who offer innovative services for launch and re-launch brands domestically and internationally.

Giancarlo’s foundation in design and creative services was solidified at the Fashion Institute of Technology and the Istituto Marangoni, where he graduated as a Visual Communicator and Fashion Designer. Giancarlo has worked in New York, specializing in window design, advertising, visual communication, interior design, and fashion design. Giancarlo’s past fashion show production experience includes working for Isaac Mizrahi, Oscar de la Renta, and Gen Art.

Giancarlo was one of the designers for the makeover show “Freestyle” on HGTV; his work has been featured in the magazine and online as an art director and fashion designer. His talent was also spotlighted when, as a hobby, he was working in the breaking tv series “Sex and the city,” some soap operas for Telemundo, hosting an online tv show, and the latest Design Genius London.

Gian’s creative spaces come from being personally inspired to inspire others to constantly travel, dream big, and venture outside their comfort zone, as he did a few years back. His motto, portrait with his camera what others have seen as ordinary, keeps fighting for what you dream of achieving and always hits the ground running.

Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, he moved to New York in March 2000 to pursue a career and follow his dreams, acceptance, and conquer NYC and then the world.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I never met someone saying that life is an easy road. Your goal isn’t “route 66”; you need to take all the hills, curves, and turning signs.

I thought I knew English (after graduating from the Centro Venezolano Americano), arriving in New York and realizing that I missed the long island accent class.

Saying I’m from Venezuela, the typical anglo answer was, Oh yeah, Minnesota?

I survived 9/11, blackouts, blizzards, and hurricanes. Living in the United States is a real experience; if I have to do it again, I will do it with my eye closed.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am proud that I did not settle to do just one thing.

I had the privilege to meet and work with great brands and personalities that helped me build my experience and portfolio from working as a flight attendant while I was attending college, traveling around the world, following a tv reality show, working sex on and the city, and presenting my design on international runways, and being proud of me being openly gay and had a family that loves me and support, something that I never had in my country.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grow up in a healthy, lovely environment. I suffered from the bully at an early age in elementary and high school. I couldn’t wait for that to end. That’s what I aimed to live/study in the united states.

I always had the support of my family in all my decisions, and I had the privilege that they accepted me as I am.
