Today we’d like to introduce you to Gia Salazar.
Gia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I got out of high school, I joined the Marine Corps since I did not want to attend college and pursuing a career in the entertainment industry was forbidden in my family. The Marines wasn’t for me, but I came out a soldier. So much that after I came out the corps got a job as a paralegal, no experience, no resume. The secretary laughed at me on the phone, told me to come back in 2 years until I said I spoke Spanish. Would of never had the guts to do that if I hadn’t gone through that extreme military training. Did extremely well and when the firm shut down, I decided it was time to pursue my passion, enough trying to make my family happy. Started going to acting school and auditions landing several roles as an actress and modeling for calendars, magazines and even a billboard in Fort Lauderdale for an MMA gym called the cage. Got a job doing bottle service and traveled the world with Americas Film Conservancy and attended some of the worlds biggest film festivals like Telluride and Berlinale.
Did internship as a producer at Gadfly entertainment and decided to invest in my own production company & recording studio and produce for myself. Time to make my visions a reality. I currently own Invent Media Group in production now for an audiobook, I am producing and also voice-overs for about breaking into the business with my mentor and working on a couple productions that I can’t disclose any information right now. The opportunity of real estate presented itself to me when the agent I hired could not produce effectively, so I decided to fire her and sell my own house. Real estate has allowed me to have the financial freedom and flexibility to pursue my career without having to be the “struggling artist” and working late night. Currently transitioning into the west coast so I also obtained my California real estate license as well, I am a dual agent, that way I’m not limited to only making money in Florida. I’ve learned that being true to yourself, not losing sight of your visions, working hard and having perseverance your dreams will become a reality.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not a smooth road at all between family and my boyfriend, at the time, that did not approve of what I was doing with the constant negativity and putting down my dreams and passions made it extremely difficult for me every time I had a casting or shoot to attend too. Because of my strong relationship with God (he is my best friend) I was able to maintain faith.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a full-service film production company and recording studio, specializing in everything video, from music videos, instructional videos, product videos, shows, commercials, virtual tours, etc.
I am most proud of my company’s integrity, my client’s satisfaction of a well-made production over delivering in their expectations is what I am passionate about.
What were you like growing up?
I was very active I played basketball for my school and city. I loved participating in my school’s plays. I was in a Catholic school, so we would do plays like Joseph and the amazing technicolor dream coat and be in charge of setting up the stage. The process of creating has always fascinated me. Nothing like seeing something in your mind and making it come to life!
