Today we’d like to introduce you to Gerald Asante.
Gerald, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Cinematography and photography has always been a passion of mine. Growing up, I was offered the opportunity to join my church’s video production team, and as time went on, I was promoted to the lead videographer and editor position. In the midst of being promoted, I began to take side gigs such as weddings, birthday parties and other events on the side. During this time, I thought about pursuing it full time. However, I was a bit hesitant, so I made the decision to pursue my degree in Digital Media Production to further my knowledge. I expressed my interest in this field to my close family and friends, and due to their words of encouragement and support, I decided to take on this journey and thus, Gentleman’s Touch Media was born.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Besides the lack of clients in the beginning, I’d say Fear is the biggest obstacle; it cripples you and has a way of pushing you away from what you truly love. However, with faith, prayers, determination and support, I constantly overcome this obstacle.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I do it all – weddings, maternity, short commercials, portraits and so much more. Although I am blessed with the knowledge and the talent to do most of these, I would say I specialize in weddings and portraits (for cinematography and photography). Building clientele and providing exceptional services is what I am most proud of. One may have the best lens and gear, but I believe that striving to always provide the best customer service to your clients is essential. Additionally, I am also proud of the support that I am constantly receiving.
As cliché as this may sound, I believe what sets me apart from others in my field is always going above and beyond for my clients. Knowing what they desire and catering to their needs to bring their vision to life. Additionally, I take time to understand and perfect my work so that I am always producing the best content for my clients. Without the clients and the support, Gentleman’s Touch Media ceases to exist. I believe that it’s important to always strive to make sure the clients’ needs are met and they are satisfied with my work/experience.
