Meet Gary Cioffi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gary Cioffi.

Hi Gary, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I started my own event company, designing and building exhibits and displays for trade shows and concerts, in addition to creating sets for movies and television shows. I enjoy the process of creating a custom design and construction plan to fit a client’s needs. It was through those connections that I discovered the Yacht Haven opportunity. I knew the RV industry was a growing market and I had the experience to develop Yacht Haven into a premier resort. Also, with my background in customer service, I knew how to work with management companies to build a good process and provide the guests with a great experience.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
When we started, the park was old and rundown, but it was in a prime spot in downtown Fort Lauderdale, right on the water. Our original plan was to update the park in sections, allowing guests to remain on-site while we did the work. But we realized once we started that to make the renovations needed and to update the marina, the park really needed to be empty. So, we paused reservations and fast-tracked the work while changing the entire business plan in the process. Now our challenge is letting everyone who knew about Yacht Haven previously that it has been transformed and it is the not the park they remember. We also have to attract new RV-ers who don’t even know a luxury RV resort like ours exists in such a prime location.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, it is reaching a goal or accomplishing something you specifically set out to achieve. I think it is important to set goals and hold yourself accountable. When I hit a goal that I specifically set for myself, whatever it may be, I consider that a success. That can vary for everyone, and it doesn’t always involve business or career. I set intentions for my family life, personal milestones – anything really. They are always changing, which keeps me going and working hard.
