Meet Gaby Abrams of Casa Confetti Design Studio in Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gaby Abrams.

Gaby, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
For a long time, I had no idea what I wanted to be. I graduated from the University of Miami with both a Bachelor of Science AND a Bachelor of Arts, then went to law school and graduated with honors. I moved to New York City with my now-husband, but I still had no idea what I wanted to do. I worked in finance for a bit, then practiced law for a while, but nothing was my forever thing.

In 2015, I had my son Levi, and while on maternity leave, I started Casa Confetti Design Studio, my invitation and stationery store. I have always loved paper and celebrations and making people feel HAPPY, so a stationery and gift shop was a perfect fit. It was always something that I envisioned myself doing “eventually,” so I think I just surprised myself with how quickly I leaped. I’m glad I did! I get to wake up every day and truly love doing what I do, and entrepreneurship has been the most inspiring and fulfilling path.

In the last four years, I’ve found that I really LOVE running a business. THIS is my forever thing. I love implementing systems and crushing goals. I love numbers. But what I love most are the huge mindset shifts that have come from really pushing myself. I’ve had to dig deep and discover who I really am and what makes me happy. Now, I have branched out into business and mindset mentoring so that I can help other female entrepreneurs achieve their dreams, too!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No one would ever describe entrepreneurship as easy (although the wins SO outweigh the negatives). At first, I struggled a lot with my mindset. I was exhausted all the time. I had a to-do list that was miles long, and I was just recycling it from week to week, never actually crossing anything off. I felt like a hamster on a wheel. When you have your own business, there is ALWAYS something that you can and should be doing. It’s hard to shake that feeling and relax.

In my second year in business, I worked my tail off and knocked out all of the big goals that I had set for myself. Somehow though, I didn’t feel any better! I had a massive success hangover, which is common. Even though I had wanted that success so much, it now felt underwhelming, and I suffered from imposter syndrome. I knew I had to get back in touch with my why.

Over the course of the last two years, I’ve started to embrace something that I now call producCHILLvity, which is the idea that by really zeroing in on your purpose and priorities, you can do a lot more with much less overwhelming! I found that so much of the time, I was actively making things harder for myself. I just hosted a ProducCHILLvity Challenge for my subscribers to help busy women streamline their lives and businesses, and it was a hit! I think there will definitely be another one soon.

Tell us more about the business.
Casa Confetti Design Studio specializes in bridal shower, baby shower, and birthday invitations. I love creating designs based on the latest trends, and I live for customer service. I have had over 18,000 customers to date, and some of them have become amazing friends. They’re on my holiday card list and everything!

I would say that what sets me apart the most though is that my passion has always been empowering women. I’m lucky that Casa Confetti has been a way for me to do that. I love mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs and will always happily discuss your goals and business dreams with you! That’s always been an important part of my brand.

I have two kinds of people that tend to look to me for inspiration: moms looking to help support their family while spending more time with their kids, and because I was a lawyer, women who feel dissatisfied with their current career and are considering taking the plunge into entrepreneurship. I love connecting with both. Seriously, I’m SUPER friendly. Feel free to reach out to me to discuss your journey. Guilt and fear often keep us from achieving our full potential, and I think we as women need to work together to overcome those feelings!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I 100% believe that you make your own luck. I have been extremely lucky in this life because I have created that luck for myself. You need to envision the life that you want and then make yourself an energetic match for it. Start living like you’re already there, like you’ve already achieved everything you want to do. Keep a gratitude journal and include your goals as things you’re ALREADY grateful for. You’ll start to shift your consciousness in major ways!

I am also completely aware of how lucky I am to have been born a woman in this day and age. I know a lot of people disagree, and they certainly have valid arguments, but I wholeheartedly believe that it is an incredible time to be a woman. Women before us put up with a LOT to make sure that we have the opportunities that we have today, and I am grateful for that.

I honestly cannot believe that I’ve been able to build a successful business as a female entrepreneur selling fun, feminine products to a female demographic. I can’t believe I get to make a living while being a full-time mom. I can’t believe that I get to mentor aspiring female business owners and help them achieve these things, too. It’s wild. So yes, I’m lucky, but anyone else can be, too. I’ll help you get there!
