Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriela Vasquez Navarro
Hi Gabriela, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started making content during the pandemic, creating silly videos on TikTok and joining in on all the dumb trends while on my exchange in Boston. After returning to Colombia, I began making recipe videos. With so much time, I enjoyed crafting healthy recipes and started recording and posting them for fun.
As the years passed, I transitioned to lifestyle content, sharing snippets of my life and my trips and especially recommending great places to eat. Eventually, I branched out into outfit videos, which led to collaborations with over 20 Colombian brands last year. This marked a significant turning point as I monetized my social media presence. Although it wasn’t my full-time job—I was working in influencer marketing and as a community manager—my social media endeavors became a delightful and rewarding addition to my life.
The key for me was passion. When you’re passionate about something, everything tends to fall into place. It felt like a dream when brands began inviting me to events with real influencers and famous personalities—I was living my dream!
I was thriving in Colombia but decided to challenge myself and move to Miami. I’m pursuing a master’s in marketing and working as a UGC (User-Generated Content) creator, which has been excellent. I’ve already been invited to three restaurants here in Miami, which is a huge success.
My journey has taught me the importance of working hard for your dreams, being consistent, and staying persistent. Believe in yourself, and you will achieve your dreams.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I mean, not smooth as terrible, but creating content is a full-time job, which sometimes I don’t have the time to do. Last year, I had more time to focus on my content, but this year has been a total challenge for me. Balancing studying, being an adult, paying my own way, and doing it all in Miami, which is not cheap—hahaha! But that’s what life is for; you need to learn and grow to build a better version of yourself.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love social media and am passionate about creating content. Professionally, I am a social communicator with experience in influencer marketing, social media ads, and managing social media strategies. Over the years, I’ve learned that a personal or commercial brand must be a human brand. People nowadays take everything so personally, so the more human you are, the better you will perform on your socials.
I’m proud that I started growing my brand and overcoming challenges I didn’t know I was good at. My dedication to authenticity and human connection sets me apart from others. I strive to create content that resonates deeply with my audience and always put a personal touch on everything I do.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
To enjoy the little moments or the tiniest things. During the pandemic, I was in Boston and unable to travel to other countries, but I found joy in the simplest activities. My favorite pastime was going to CVS. Even though I didn’t need anything, I spent time appreciating the colors, brands, flavors, and just hanging out there. It taught me to find happiness in the small, everyday experiences and to appreciate the world around me in new ways.
