Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabby Amritt.
Gabby, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up I always wanted to find my creative side, I know my passions are within the modeling and acting worlds. So, I started modeling at 18 during my senior year of high school. At the time, I guess you can say I didn’t fully believe in myself as I was learning to accept every aspect of me as well. I continued to shoot with local photographers and brands and gradually fell in love with the process of shooting and seeing the outcome.
As I got older, I accepted who I was and that’s what drove me even more to become a model. I’m not your typical runway model and that’s something that has challenged me and built me as a model and person. I want to be able to inspire others who feel like they are too “different.” Let’s be real, the differences about ourselves are what truly makes us. The modeling and acting industries are something that requires tough skin but you should never let it break you and destroy your passions. I do everything with my all and no matter how hard it is, I never let it stop being fun for me. Although, I have ways to go I never forget how far I’ve come. I’ve definitely reached this far due to the amazing people I’ve come across in person and through the internet. I know there’s a lot of hate towards the fact how some models make it through Instagram but really and truly it is a tool that you must learn to use to your advantage and not let it use you. Instagram has helped me connect with photographers, brands, and people in general who just want to promote what you do because they can feel your passion through their screen.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but that comes with any journey. Like I mentioned, I’m not the typical runway model but the industry is always changing. I’d get rejected from agencies who said they didn’t like my look or my height. I believe if you can display your passions through a picture or video then nothing can stop you from getting to where you aspire to be. When you accept who you are 100% all, you need it someone else within the industry to believe in you as much as you do and I, fortunately, have recently found that with my new management and mother agent over at Above and Beyond and I’m more than grateful for that. It took me three years which isn’t a lot but feels like forever to find an agency that truly believes in me.
Gabby Amritt – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Aside from modeling and just stepping into the acting world, I think my attitude is what sets me apart from others. I have an extremely positive outlook on life that came with time but definitely helps me within my career paths. I’m working on creating a brand called “Notime4doubts” which will be inspired by those who doubted me and any doubts I’ve ever had. I want it to resonate with anyone who seems like their dreams are out of reach. It isn’t out of reach it’s right in front of you and that’s something that takes a while to realize. I also want the brand to be a symbol of not wasting time on doubting and dwelling but to strive and thrive. This brand is a reminder to keep pushing forward. After all, it’s all comes down to growth.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were just starting out?
The only thing I would change would have been to be more positive in the beginning. I definitely doubted myself to the point where it wasn’t healthy. Other than that, I wouldn’t change any obstacles faced. Everything that has happened to me has built me as a person and helped me in so many different ways. I think we all must go through difficult phases to reach what we truly want.
