Meet Fructuoso Ndong Maye

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fructuoso Ndong Maye.

Hi Fructuoso, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Since I was a child, I always liked to dance, around 2008 I went to Spain to study and there I began to have contact with music at the production level. My father had a studio at home and in my spare time, I started making music. Little by little I discovered my artistic side until we created the group where “Place Angels” came from. More than 10 years later I decided to follow the music alone and with a clearer goal. I started my solo career since 2021.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been very difficult for me to be able to transcend from a little country in Africa to the global stage, But I believe that when my music gets out to the masses that really appreciate good music, we will be on our way heading in the right direction.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work as an artist is a bit versatile. Apart from being a singer, I am also a sound producer. I can say that my specialty is mixing, it is the part of the production that I like the most and in which I feel most comfortable. Every song I work on is like a baby that I’m watching grow, and it’s a unique feeling. In my environment, what sets me apart is the fact that I am always open to new opportunities that lead me out of my comfort zone.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I have never been to Miami, but I have been able to watch videos, movies, etc. What strikes me the most, apart from the fact that I like a lot, are the beaches… Like a good aquarium, I always like to be surrounded by water. I also like that it is a multicultural city, especially that you can get there and listen to Spanish on the street, it’s wonderful. On a musical level, I also think it is a place with many opportunities for artists. Hopefully, one day I will arrive, and I can try the gastronomy there and investigate a little more about cultural issues. I think what I like the least is the dark side that they always show us in movies, which has to do with the world of the night, drugs, mafia, etc… That I suppose that such a big and prestigious city will exist of everything.
