Today we’d like to introduce you to Frida García D’Adda.
Hi Frida, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Since I was very young I was always drawn to the world of film and fashion; I am a great admirer of story-telling. But I was scared, I didn’t feel good enough, all the models and actresses I would see on television, in magazines, and more just seemed to be perfect, everything I wasn’t.
It wasn’t until COVID that I had the courage to act and search for representation, I developed a mentality in which I understood that fear shouldn’t be an obstacle in life, it’s an emotion that prepares us and challenges us. I was tired of waiting for life to happen to me, it had to come from me. I sent my pictures to multiple agencies and got a response, since then I have been working hard, creating connections, learning from the art, and enjoying the process.
This journey has taught me so much, especially since life is fleeting, work comes and goes, and nothing is for sure. I´ve had the opportunity to surround myself around artists, people with vibrant dreams, and fighters; that’s what I love about this industry, all of us are here due to courage, we took the road that people usually frown upon: we chose art.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Luckily I’ve surrounded myself with kind and professional people who have helped me grow and guided me every step of the way. But it is a complicated environment, it takes a lot of mental strength and confidence to be able to deal with the immense amount of rejection you face, for every 50 castings you do you will get one or two jobs. There are also a lot of standards, especially physical ones that pressure one as a model.
All of these aspects have affected me as well, it made me put in question my worth, I just never felt enough. It all comes down to something simple: we are all unique, a different profiles; when you are rejected in a casting they don’t reject you as a person, you just aren´t the image they want at the moment; it literally isn’t personal, it’s business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am currently a model and actress while I finish studying my career in Public Relations. I love storytelling and I’m very fond of visual arts, history, and sociology. I have a passion for reading and understanding people, from a public audience for a brand to a fictional character.
I believe in the magic of alternate realities: by this, I mean that I believe that there is no reality therefore all realities are real. This has let me understand people, and be open-minded; that´s what I’m the proudest of: understanding people.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Easy choices lead to a hard life and hard choices to an easy one. I learned to act with courage, and appreciate the pain and fear but not let it take control of me. And everything in life is ephemeral, it comes and goes.
