So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We started in 2014 with a test hosting (2) live events at the Joe Celestin Center in North Miami. As predicted, the turnout was merely only friends & family, an average of 50 people per show. Based on past study, we knew Miami was a hard sell unless it was by the major brand WWE. However, due to the major influence of minorities both African-American & Hispanic, we catered our show on the premise of that target market in which is not approached by the WWE and since has grown our audience to 500+ on average. Fighting Evolution Wrestling combines the reality of the lives of the wrestlers outside of the ring with the talent & athleticism of the performers inside the ring.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, not smooth at all. The constant denial of hosting a live event in different facilities is one of the struggles. The city or owner of a facility who is not familiar with Pro Wrestling but only to what they see on tv, are quick to deny the use inside of their facility. If it were a UFC/MMA, Boxing, Basketball, Football game, Baseball, etc. they would know who to call to help regulate the sports because they’re all familiar with them and know how it works. But when it comes to pro wrestling, there’s no youth league, board, no-one to call so it’s alien and when it’s something not known, it’s easier to say no to. Trying to have a venue to call home is one main struggle because we can’t have the consistency for our fans.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Fighting Evolution Wrestling – what should we know?
Fighting Evolution Wrestling is South Florida’s leader in Sports Entertainment, training, and production. We are known throughout the entire state & east coast as the best produced live pro wrestling show. We have consistent notable tv pro wrestling celebrities that help push our brand. I am most proud of being able to say, we are the first ever minority-owned Sports Entertainment company in South Florida with a Pro Wrestling training facility for any aspiring pro wrestler.
What sets us apart bar none is our production capabilities. If you only ever watched wrestling on TV and then attended one of our events, you would feel that you are getting exactly as expected.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
If you really want to bring success into your life, it should originate inhabits, built one day at a time. If you live your life as most people do, you will get what most people get. If you settle, you will get a settled life. If you give yourself your best, every day, your best will give back to you.
With Fighting Evolution Wrestling, the traits that are highly successful for us are:
1. Drive: Have the determination to work harder than most and make sure things get done.
2. Self-reliance: Shoulder responsibilities and be accountable. Make hard decisions and stand by them.
3. Willpower: That when you want it, you make it happen.
4. Patience: Have to be willing to be that, they’re going to be failures and frustrations but to take them personally would be a detriment.
5. Integrity: Shouldn’t have to be said, but integrity creates a character and defines who you are.
6. Passion: If you want to succeed, if you want to live, it’s not politeness but rather the passion that will get you there.
7. Connection: Able to relate to others.
8. Optimism: If you believe that the future can be better, you’re likely to step up and take responsibility.
9. Self-confidence: Trust yourself. It’s as simple as that.
10. Communication: You work to communicate and pay attention to the communicators around you. Most importantly, you hear what is NOT being said. When communication is present, trust and respect follow.
No one plans on being mediocre; mediocrity happens when you don’t plan. If you want to succeed, learn the traits that will make you successful and plan on living them out every day. Be humble and great. Courageous and determined. Faithful and fearless. That is who we are, and who I have always been.
