Today we’d like to introduce you to Fatboy.305.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Born in Nicaragua came to Miami in 1987. Lost my mother to cancer when I was one year old. I’m grateful for my parents on bringing me to the united states from a third world country just so I can live a better life not even a year later my mom died my dad was always working hard to support his four boys always being alone is what made me one day start writing down my feelings in a notebook I wrote it into paragraphs like a story it was like my journal that later on in life would turn into me saying you know what I can turn my feelings into music so why not start making songs so I then starting writing music in middle school and always said when I get older and start working I want to build my own recording studio.
So I started little by little till it was completed and when I was ready I met an older guy that a musician for a rock band by my dads house where I was living at the time his name was Jeff we both lived in an area called Westchester 40th st Bird Road I started paying him ten bucks an hour to record my music to the point he told me Fatboy you have everything at your house and your coming to record at my studio why not let me teach you how to record your own music so you can produce your own music then I said ok so I put my music on hold for a couple months roughly about a year but he taught me everything I know to where I became an audio engineer first then I became the artist and one day he said Fatboy your ready to start recording at home you’ve learned everything I taught you he pushed me to start recording at home and it all went history from there I always recorded my own sound.
In my music I talk about my life struggles and the battles I was going through like depression from always being alone I hated the world I lived in as a kid just because I didn’t have my mom here as a kid I always blew out my birthday candles wishing my only wish that I can just die and go search for my mom as I grew older I got used to always being alone later on in life around 2012 my best friend Richard Martinez was murdered from two gun men that robbed him and killed him and put him in his own car and lit it on fire where his only remains were his bones he was my only motivation I used to show him all my music and he would tell me this is a good one and this one wasn’t he was my ears he grew up together since we met in middle school and it crushed me so bad after his funeral after that I didn’t want no more friends I like wanted to go home and lock my self in my house and I did I stopped being social I was scared to have friends because of the fear of losing them and going to there funeral.
By this time I had a daughter I named her faith just because of me never having faith in anything my whole world was shattered and that little girl saved me from taking my own life when I looked into her eyes I felt like I was looking at my mom and it told me either you do it for your daughter or your going to kill your self I remember smiling and telling myself ok now I found faith ever since then I felt like I had a purpose in life so I wanted to rap about this and tell everybody look at me listen to my stories I changed my life from negative to positive just because of some little girl I named faith her middle name is Sonia after my moms name I put it together and it was Faith Sonia Rios I felt blessed I had faith and my mothers name still carrying on after my moms death almost 20 years later I made sure my moms name was still alive so when I die my moms name will still live on because of faith life is better on the other side and the grass is greener too I can co-sign for that I’m a living testimony.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am a recording and audio engineer I go by the name as Fatboy.305 and put everything out on my production label Fatboy.305 productions I do it all my self I write my own lyrics I produce my own songs I just the beats from different producers and do my own thing on it as in creating a song I do my own marketing my own promotion everything that says my business name on it I have 100% on the creations from promotional videos to creating my own logo my own merch I do everything from home all from my studio room to the digital world I have Miami people behind me supporting me shot out to miyayo radio they always support me that’s my home team supporters there from them to other Miami recording artist to other artists around the world I am different I do it all by my self with no ones help my dad always taught me to do it your self so when it comes time to me blowing up and being successful no one can say that I am in the position I am in because of them, so I always listened to my dad on that one it stayed stuck in my head.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Never had any favorite childhood memories because I grew up to fast.
