Jenelli, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
They say great things happen when you least expect it- that could not be truer. Almost seven years ago, I was still a student all while working at a small family owned restaurant where the owner, Rebecca “Becky” Prieto would give me every possible opportunity to collaborate in designing her perfectly detailed events. Aside from the details, I loved the planning of logistics, seeing a vision come together was simply amazing and the client’s reaction truly priceless. I remember getting the call from a bride to be in need of a wedding planner..who me? The very next day, I met with her and with me, I brought photo albums (yes, I printed pictures) of all the small events I had done. She contacted me on the spot and at the moment I knew it was the start of something special- Events by Gigi was born in January 2012. I’ll be honest, the only thing I knew about weddings was that they were beautiful and the only thing I knew was how hard I was ready to work in growing my small business. There is no better teacher than that of hands-on experience and after that first wedding, it was back to back events that came with many lessons learned and here I am today. I planned every wedding that came my way, attended every single bridal show and left my business cards in every business imaginable. Today, I am fortunate enough to have a wonderful team, work with incredible vendors who share the same passion I do and most importantly beautiful couples who allow me to take part in their special day.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Hard work is never easy but it’s always worth it. As I mentioned, I started my business completely blind but after that first wedding there was a spark in me and I was determined.
I would read your usual do’s & don’t’s for wedding planners, I asked a lot of questions to those in the industry and what I didn’t know I figured out (it’s all about trial and error).
For all the challenges I faced, I saw them more as lessons to learn from and great stories to tell.

Events by Gigi is a wedding and event planning company specializing primarily in weddings with a love for details and high standards in customer service.
I’m very transparent with every single client I have been fortunate enough to work with and I think that is the foundation for building a successful relationship. The only think I can guarantee is my service from start to finish and the amount of love that will go into planning their wedding.
I think what sets Events by Gigi apart is making sure that that great service is consistent, yes, clients will be challenging but know how to handle situations, know when to take a step back and not take things personally and know how to maintain your tact and professionalism.
I do not have enough words to describe how proud I am of my team. I have a wonderful team of wedding day assistants that have been with me for some time and to see them develop like they have makes me incredibly proud. Every event they are out there shoulder to shoulder with me making sure the execution is perfect.
I am beyond proud for being awarded Wedding Wire Couple’s Choice for 2015,2016,2017,2018. The greatest gift a bride can give their wedding planner is that of their feedback based on their experience- I am so grateful for every review. I still tear up reading the reviews!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Growth! I love knowing that there is so much room for growth in this industry, things are continuously evolving.
