Meet Evan Tunis of Florida Healthcare Insurance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Tunis.

Hi Evan , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I got into the health insurance industry back in 2003, working for a larger organization. It was a great learning experience, but over time I became disillusioned with how impersonal and profit-driven things felt. I knew there had to be a better way to truly help people navigate something as important as their health coverage.

In 2008, I made the leap and went out on my own. It wasn’t easy at first, but it allowed me to build something that reflected my values—putting people first, offering real guidance, and always being available when clients need help. That decision has shaped everything I’ve done since.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all—it was definitely a tough road in the beginning. Graduating college and jumping straight into self-employment doesn’t come with an instruction manual. There’s a lot you have to figure out the hard way—how to run a business, find clients, and build something sustainable. It took a few years to really find my footing, but each challenge taught me something valuable and helped shape the way I approach my work today.

As you know, we’re big fans of Florida Healthcare Insurance. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We’re a family-run health insurance agency that specializes in helping individuals, families, and small businesses find the right coverage. We also offer expert guidance on Medicare supplements. What really sets us apart is how hands-on we are—when you work with us, you’re getting real people who genuinely care, not a call center or an AI chatbot.

This industry is tough. It’s fast-changing, competitive, and not always easy to navigate—even for the professionals. So the fact that we’ve been doing this for over 20 years says a lot. It reflects the trust our clients place in us and the commitment we’ve made to doing things the right way.

Every client we work with gets personalized attention. We take the time to explain the options, answer questions, and make sure people feel confident in their decisions. We’re not just about selling a policy—we’re here for the long haul, whether it’s helping navigate a claim or adjusting coverage as life changes.

What I’m most proud of is the trust we’ve built. People know when they call us, they’re getting someone who knows their name, understands their needs, and actually picks up the phone. That level of personal service is the heart of our brand, and it’s something we’ll never compromise on.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is doing right by the people who trust me with their coverage. Health insurance can be confusing, overwhelming, and—at times—deeply personal. When someone comes to us, they’re not just looking for a policy; they’re looking for guidance, clarity, and someone in their corner.

That trust is everything to me. It’s why I take the time to really listen, to explain the fine print, and to make sure clients feel supported long after the paperwork is signed. At the end of the day, knowing I’ve helped someone protect their health, their family, or their business—that’s what drives me.
