Meet Erisa Meta of Eliça’s Baking

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erisa Meta.

Hi Erisa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Honestly, everything started very randomly.

When my husband and I moved to America, I started paying a lot more attention to the food we were eating. I remember reading every label on breads and other products because everything felt so different from what we were used to back home. I kept thinking, “Why are there so many ingredients in this?”

That is really what pushed me to start making more things from scratch, the way my mom taught me growing up. I have always been a bread lover, so of course I started with bread. Then I got more curious about sourdough and started experimenting with it at home. At first, I was only making bread and pita for us. Then I started sharing some with friends and family, and they kept telling me, “You should sell this.” I did not really think it would become a business at first, but their feedback gave me the confidence to try.

Little by little, we started taking small orders, learning as we went, and eventually what started in my home kitchen became Eliça’s Baking. It all happened very naturally, from my love for simple homemade food and wanting to share those familiar, from-scratch flavors with more people.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh no, not at all. It has been beautiful, but definitely not smooth.

Once the orders started growing, life got very busy. My husband and I would wake up super early in the morning to bake, then we would go to work, and after work we would do deliveries around South Florida. Looking back, I honestly do not even know how we did it sometimes, but we believed in what we were building.

One of the biggest challenges was deciding to leave my corporate job and focus completely on baking. That was scary. We were two young people who had moved to a completely different country, trying to build something from nothing, and of course we did not know if it would really work.

There were a lot of ups and downs, and many moments where we had to figure things out as we went. But with faith, hard work, and the support of our customers, we feel like we have built something meaningful.

The journey has definitely been challenging, but it also made us appreciate every little step even more.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Eliça’s Baking?
I think people know Eliça’s Baking the most for our sourdough cinnamon rolls. Those really became our thing. A lot of people discovered us because of them, and they are still one of the products our customers get the most excited about.

For me, what makes us different is the way we bake and the ingredients we use. I bake the same way I would bake in my own kitchen at home. We use clean, high-quality, organic ingredients, no seed oils, no artificial flavors, and nothing that I personally would not use for my family.

Even the name Eliça’s Baking is very personal to me. When my husband and I were in college, he used to call me Eliça, and somehow the name just stuck. Then my friends and family started calling me that too, so when it was time to name the business, it just felt right. That is why the whole brand feels like an extension of my home. Everything is made from scratch with care, patience, and love. We do a lot of sourdough-based baked goods, but more than anything, I want our food to feel fresh, comforting, and real.

Right now, we offer local deliveries throughout South Florida, pickups from our commercial kitchen, and we also ship our baked goods all over the U.S.

What I am most proud of is that even as we grow, Eliça’s Baking still feels personal. I want people to know that when they order from us, they are getting something we truly believe in, not just something we made to sell.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is that I never gave up on something I really love.

Baking has always been that thing for me. It makes me feel creative, calm, and sometimes a little crazy too, haha, because baking will definitely test your patience. But I love it. I love the smell, the process, the little details, and that feeling of making something from nothing.

And of course, the best part is seeing people enjoy it. When someone gets their order and texts me saying, “This was the best thing I ever had,” it seriously makes my whole day. Those messages mean so much to me because they remind me why I do this, especially on the long and tiring days.

It also inspires me to keep creating new things and to keep putting more love into everything I bake. For me, happiness is really that , doing what I love and seeing it bring joy to other people. <3
