Today we’d like to introduce you to Ellena Lourens.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
When I was a kid, I never watched any movies until I was 8. I read obsessively. I had a very good memory. From thirteen, I had free rein of the internet and it started to dilute my mind. From the age of 17, I started to make art and this brought me back to the world of magic within myself that I could see when I was a kid. Having traveled the world for the past three years has brought new possibilities and light onto everything that once was clouded and has informed my work, giving it a feeling of return.
Please tell us about your art.
I do street art, paint, illustrate and do embroidery. I want my work to inspire people, not in a way that’s challenging, but in a way that motivates them to reach within themselves to something that they could share, which would be warm and creative in the same resonance of each piece that I make. I think to expect anything specific in return from viewers of my work would taint my ability to be vulnerable within it.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
I think finding something real and honest while being massively over stimulated by mountains of media and the concept of relevancy.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
