Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Davidson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
If I had to describe my journey in a few words, I’d say it has been about following where music, education, and creativity intersect. Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and as a child, I dreamed of having my own piano studio. The teachers I had shaped that vision by showing me that music was about more than technique. Music builds confidence, cultivates creativity and expression, and inspires curiosity.
As I got older, I explored different sides of the music industry, earning my Bachelor’s in Commercial Music from Florida Atlantic University and a Master’s in Arts Presenting and Live Entertainment Management from the University of Miami. My growing interest in how people learn eventually led me to pursue a Doctorate in Education in Applied Learning Sciences.
The more I learned, the more I returned to that original childhood dream. I realized I wanted to create a space where people could grow not only as musicians, but also as creative individuals. That vision became Amp It Up! Creative Consultants LLC, where I now work with piano students and emerging artists. My journey has allowed me to bring together my experiences as a performer, educator, arts professional, researcher, and mentor to help others build confidence, discover their creative voices, and develop meaningful relationships with music.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Life can become especially challenging when you’re going through personal changes while still trying to remain present for everyone around you. There can be a tendency to keep pushing forward because you have responsibilities, goals, students, family, and people who depend on you. But sometimes, continuing to push at the same pace isn’t what you need. I’ve learned that it’s okay to slow down, take a break, and give yourself space to adjust.
For a long time, I viewed slowing down as a sign that I wasn’t making progress. I’ve learned that rest can actually be part of progress. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that you can’t consistently show up for others when you aren’t showing up for yourself. I care deeply about being present for the people I serve, but I’ve learned that I can’t give my best to others without making space to care for myself.
The challenges I’ve faced have taught me that resilience doesn’t always mean pushing through. Sometimes it means knowing when to pause, giving yourself grace, and trusting that taking a step back doesn’t erase everything you’ve accomplished. Be patient with yourself; growth can happen quietly. Taking care of yourself isn’t separate from the journey; it is part of it.
As you know, we’re big fans of Amp It Up! Creative Consultants LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Amp It Up! Creative Consultants LLC combines music education and creative mentorship through private piano instruction and artist development. I work with students and emerging artists to strengthen their skills while also helping them develop confidence, creativity, and discover their own artistic voice.
What sets me apart is my holistic approach. I’m not only focused on technical development; I care about the person behind the musician. My background as a performer, educator, arts professional, researcher, and mentor allows me to see each person as an individual and tailor my approach to their unique goals, strengths, and needs.
I’m most proud of building a brand that encourages people to explore their creativity, recognize their potential, express themselves, and grow through music. Ultimately, my goal is to cultivate a learning environment where people feel supported, inspired, and empowered to become the best version of themselves.
How do you define success?
I have come to understand that success doesn’t always look like a major accomplishment. Sometimes it’s a graduation, a new business, or reaching a goal you’ve worked toward for years. But other times, success is much more subtle. It can be getting through a difficult day, taking one small step forward, learning something new about yourself, or recognizing that you handled something differently than you might have in the past.
Earlier in my life, I measured success more by milestones such as graduating from music school, earning advanced degrees, building a career, or starting a company. Those accomplishments are meaningful to me, but as life changes and I move through different seasons, I’ve become more aware of the value of small victories. Growth isn’t always dramatic or immediately visible. Sometimes it’s becoming a little more confident, making choices that align with your values, showing up for the people you love, or simply continuing to move forward when life doesn’t look the way you expected.
Today, I define success as becoming a little more of the person I’m meant to be each day. It means using my gifts to positively impact others, being a good role model for my students, fulfilling my responsibilities to the people I love, and continuing to grow as a person. I don’t think success has to be a finish line. Sometimes it’s simply recognizing that you’ve grown, even if that growth happened slowly and in small ways. For me, success is finding meaning in those moments, staying aligned with my values, and appreciating the person I’m becoming along the way.
