Today we’d like to introduce you to Edwin Reyes.
Hi Edwin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my brand from a deep desire to tell stories that reflected my heritage, upbringing, and perspective through fashion. Growing up influenced by Puerto Rican culture, New York energy, music, family, and craftsmanship, I wanted to create pieces that felt emotional and intentional — not just clothing, but wearable storytelling. What began as an idea rooted in identity slowly evolved into building a world where fashion, culture, and community could all exist together.
In the beginning, everything was very hands-on and grassroots. I focused on developing strong concepts, learning construction, refining silhouettes, and creating garments with meaning behind every detail. Over time, people began connecting to the authenticity of the work — especially the way the collections celebrate heritage through tailoring, textiles, handwork, and cultural references.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Creating a brand is a different challenge everything whether trying to meet brand deliverables on social or finishing orders which is why i fell in love with Fashion. It brings some new to accomplish every week.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a fashion designer based in New York City and the founder of my namesake brand, Edwin Reyes
. E.R. is a contemporary womenswear brand rooted in sustainability, culture, and heritage. From the very beginning, the vision behind the brand has been to create pieces that feel deeply connected to identity and storytelling while still existing within a modern New York perspective.
As a Puerto Rican designer, I’ve always been inspired by the richness of my culture and the energy of New York. That contrast between heritage and city life naturally became the foundation of the brand. Through tailoring, textiles, silhouettes, and hand-crafted details, we aim to celebrate Puerto Rican culture while showcasing it through a contemporary New York landscape.
What started as a personal creative vision has grown into a brand that connects fashion, community, and culture together. Every collection is created with intention — balancing craftsmanship, sustainability, and emotional storytelling — while continuing to honor the traditions and experiences that inspire the work today.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work with and support [Edwin Reyes](https://edwinreyes.com?utm_source=chatgpt.com) in many different ways, whether through brand partnerships, creative collaborations, cultural initiatives, or community-driven projects. I’m always open to collaborating with brands and organizations that genuinely align with our vision of celebrating sustainability, heritage, and Latino culture through fashion.
Recently, we presented our latest collection alongside an intimate press dinner sponsored by [Buchanan’s Whisky](https://www.buchananswhisky.com?utm_source=chatgpt.com), a partnership that felt incredibly organic because of their continued support of Latin talent and culture. Collaborations like these are meaningful because they allow us to bring the E.R. world to life through fashion, cuisine, music, storytelling, and community experiences.
Beyond partnerships, people can support the brand by wearing the collections, sharing our story, attending events, collaborating creatively, or helping amplify the mission behind the work. At the core of everything we do is the desire to create culturally impactful work that connects people through fashion and heritage.
