Today we’d like to introduce you to Dylan Gordan.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Dylan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After previously closing a business I had part ownership in, I got the taste for entrepreneurship and knew I didn’t want to work for anyone else in the future. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do next, but after being introduced to and chatting with someone in this line of work, I began researching and studying what it would take to open up a window cleaning business. In my research, I found that it would take a very low start-up cost, which could lead to large profits rather quickly. I dove headfirst into the industry and found myself with a new passion. I reached out to friends and family and used them as “guinea pigs” for practice.
Seeing the results and providing a service for people, as well as being able to provide for my family, motivated me even more. I took the next steps putting 110% of myself into the company and began a new journey. Starting with just a squeegee and a mop, I quickly realized that I could add other services and revenue, with power washing, roof cleaning, gutter maintenance, & paver sealing. Within eight months, it went from an idea to have the capabilities to service multiple jobs in one day and being continuously booked out at least two weeks ahead. While I am still implementing systems, new marketing tactics & building teams, my goal is to become Palm Beach County’s “go-to” for all exterior cleaning needs.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a new business is always difficult. The fear of putting time and money into something and not knowing confidently that it will succeed is always stressful. I am a young adult with a wife and three kids, so giving them the world is my goal. Once the company had lift-off, growing pains began to take effect. However, keeping my family in mind and embracing mistakes as learning experiences, I conquer each moment as a stepping stone.
Please tell us about Gordon Exterior Cleaning.
We are a grassroots business that was started in Palm Beach County. We specialize in window cleaning, power washing, roof cleaning, gutter maintenance, and paver sealing. We service both residential and commercial projects and understand that people’s homes and businesses are one of the most important investments in their lives, and we handle all of our work accordingly. We treat all of our clients like family and not just “another job”.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Traveling the world with my family and being able to provide that for mine as we grow together.
