Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Dean Zusmer
Dr. Zusmer, D.C. is a native of Miami Beach, Florida. After completing his prerequisite studies at the University of Miami, in Coral Gables, Florida, he acquired a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the State of New York in Albany, New York. He achieved this degree congruently while attending a doctorate program in Marietta, Georgia, earning his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in December, 1997. During his doctorate course of study, Dr. Zusmer gained a thorough education in accident injury rehabilitation, physical medicine, and nutrition. Dr. Zusmer is a Life University Extension Faculty member in The PEAK (Practice, Excellence, Art and Knowledge) program. This program is designed to allow senior interns to complete their clinic requirements under the direction and guidance of an exemplary off-campus doctor.
For the three years prior to matriculating into the Life University doctoral program, Dr. Zusmer was employed by the Fontainebleau Spa in Miami Beach, Florida as a personal trainer, certified by the American College of Sports Medicine. He was the founder and president of Balance Center, Inc. for the diagnosis and rehabilitation of balance and vestibular disorders. Dr. Zusmer was Chief Operations Officer (COO) of Planned Nutrition™, a nutritional supplement and weight loss company. Dr. Zusmer is the founder and owner of Miami Accident Center, which specializes in the treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries from auto accidents and slip and falls, He has office locations throughout South Florida.
Dr. Zusmer is an active member of the Florida Chiropractic Association (FCA). On a more personal note, Dr. Zusmer enjoys scuba diving and fishing; organic cooking and juicing; and music and theater. He lives with his wife, Crystal and their two Boston terriers, Palmer and Emmy.
Has it been a smooth road?
This is where the old adage, nothing in life worth having comes easy. Becoming a doctor of chiropractic was most challenging, but I will say, as a student, I did not realize that the most challenging part of becoming an elite professional starts after graduation. Opening accident rehabilitation centers in areas where they are needed, making them state of the art with the most current equipment and techniques and keeping a personal touch, by catering to each patient’s individual needs, has been challenging yet extremely rewarding. Miami Accident Center specializes in accident injury rehabilitation and DOT CDL Physical Exams for commercial truck drivers. We have chiropractic physicians, chiropractic assistants, x-ray technicians and massage therapists that work together to help people heal quickly following injuries from auto accidents and slip and falls and certified medical examiners to administer the DOT CDL Physical Exams. We also work closely with medical professionals that consult with patients at our facilities. Some of these medical professionals include orthopedic specialists and pain management specialists. Accident injury rehabilitation requires repeat office visits, so it is very important that the patients feel comfortable in the environment. This is what I really feel sets us apart from other, similar-type companies. The patient’s that treat at Miami Accident Center feel as though they are part of a family, and that’s because we genuinely care about our patients. We design and implement individual care plans for each and every patient as it applies to their injuries. We also cater to our patient’s busy schedules. We understand that people have busy lives. We have early morning office hours, late office hours, weekend office hours and we extend the office hours, if necessary, to meet our patient’s needs. Also, upon request, we will refer patients to trusted qualified, accident attorneys that will answer any questions they may have and protect their rights.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think Miami and the surrounding areas is one of the best places to live and work for this type of business. The roadways are crowded with people going to and from work and taking their kids to school and after school activities. Unfortunately, there are many distracted drivers and accidents in Miami-Dade and the surrounding counties are prevalent. People that get injured in auto accidents need doctors they can trust to help them heal quickly and to look out for their best interest.
