Meet DJ Citizen Jane

Today, we’d like to introduce you to DJ Citizen Jane.

DJ Citizen Jane
DJ Citizen Jane is a Singer-Songwriter/International DJ/Fashion Designer who grew up in Miami. She now spends her time writing, recording, and producing between Miami and Los Angeles. Citizen Jane is currently working on her debut solo project with multiple renowned producers and collaborating with up-and-coming artists.

She recently released her 8th single, “Ciao, Goodbye,” which has been compared to the style of Dua Lipa. It has gotten just as much acclaim as her previously released single “Too Late.” Her forthcoming EP featuring her first single, “Campo de Guerra,” which takes her back to her Latin Roots, will be setting the tone of a rebirth for Citizen Jane. She grew up with a mix of traditional Latin music and influences in classic rock and electronic music.

She has a passion for music from different cultures. After traveling the world with her successful DJ career, she acquired a fusion of melodic rhythms, Latin vibes mixed with percussion, and her sultry voice, adding an electronic touch. She refers to herself as a cultural mix carrying pieces of every country she has visited on her tour and adding it all to her music catalog. After performing at Madison Square Garden and at Sydney, Australia’s Huge Music Festival for over 45,000, she has broken through the glass ceiling, and nothing can stop her from the pursuit of her goals.

She recently captivated an even broader audience by being the face of the “Fighting Spirit” Modelo Beer Campaign, which appeared on their TV commercial globally. She debuted as a fashion designer with her Edgy Clothing Line, which she designed on the runway at Sony Hall in New York City during NYC Fashion Week. Citizen Jane has also innovatively united music with sports. Stating that Music and Sports create a common ground for people who may not share the same language, beliefs, culture or religion to come together.

She wrote and vocally recorded the Anthem “G(o)AL” for the Miami Soccer Team and was their Ambassador, securing a collaboration with the classically Iconic UK Sports Brand Umbro. Among the many exciting projects that she has done, opening up for top Latin Pop Singer Sebastian Yatra and being the first DJ to perform at the U.S. Tennis Open in NYC are her favorite accomplishments.

Citizen Jane always says that even though she is going into almost 20 years of a career, it always feels like the first time whenever she is performing or taking on one of her many endeavors. “If the passion ever goes away or I don’t feel like that when I’m doing what I love, then it will be time for me to retire. But I’m still nowhere near that time yet.”

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. As we all know, women always have to work harder, especially when you are in a career considered predominantly a man’s world.

But I have managed to break through and have been able to maintain a successful journey, which has more than proved that women can dominate not only the DJ/music world but anything they put their minds to. As long as you have the passion and drive, you will always achieve success.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
I guess I could say that I specialize in creating. I just love dabbling into anything that requires creativity and being genuinely unique, whether it be when I am songwriting, being a DJ at an event, or even when I’m designing clothes.

What sets me apart is that I am super real, genuine, and very authentic with everything I do. I also pay attention to detail, which is an important attribute. I read the room when I’m spinning at an event. I watch the crowd and engage with them. I feel like we create this bond, and the music that I curate for that event happens organically.

What I’m most proud of is being able to fulfill the great traits I learned from my parents, such as always paying it forward and helping others. I don’t like talking much about the things that I’ve done to help because those are things that make my heart full, and that is where they stay. But being able to work with underprivileged youth at 2 Shelters in Miami and Homestead are among the things that I’m proud of. I feel that the topic of Mental Health Awareness doesn’t have the attention and focus that it should have.

Kids mental health is in crisis. Teenagers are growing more anxious and depressed, and a lot of it has to do with society and the pressures of social media. I have been working in this field to help the cause for over five years now. The youth are our future and we need to invest our attention in them and anything I can do to help I will because I feel they are the most vulnerable and misunderstood.

I always try to set a good example for them to follow and show them that no matter your walk of life, you can consistently achieve your goals and change your life. It’s all up to you to decide the journey and path you want to take. Everything is temporary, you choose if you want to stay where you are or push forward and break through to have a brighter future.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Resilience, humility, creativity, innovation, generosity, and ambition are just a few of the characteristics that have helped me achieve my goals and allowed me to have the success I have today.
