Meet Diana Jackson of Women Making Positive Changes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Jackson.

Hi Diana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Diana Jackson; born in Far Rockaway (Queens), NY, raised in Palm Beach (Florida) County. I have several companies: A Wise Choice FL Medical Billing, A Wise Choice ENT, LLC, and my Non-Profit Organization – Women Making Positive Changes, Inc. which was established in 2016. Coming out of abusive & toxic marriages/ relationships, I came to a breaking point. I wanted change and wanted to make a difference not just in my community but all over the world. I came to terms that there is nothing I wanted more than to help the less fortunate and batter women. My organization serves hot meals, provides clothing and care packets along with life counseling.

After the passing of my mother in 2020 (June 28) from Dementia during the Covid Epidemic. My mother always helped family members, friends & strangers. I had a vision of building a 36 unit Housing complex in the Rural Areas of Florida.  I know most definitely I wanted more insight on my goal, so I made some sacrifices & attended The Gold Coast School for Real Estate in Lantana, Florida. I knew with this knowledge I would be able to accomplish my goal. On Wednesday, September 21, 2022 I passed the Florida State Exam and signed on with Keller Williams Realty @ The Palm Beach Reserve & Keller Williams Buckhead in Georgia and became a Realtor.

I have scheduled a meeting with The City of West Palm Beach CRA Department and Development Housing to go over the logistics of Leonora’s Place. I have also teamed up with Sal Russo from Carrfour Supportive Housing in Miami Florida to assist with Property Management once the project is complete. I am now searching for land to purchase to build a 36-unit affordable housing complex here in South Florida. My deadline to complete this mission will be by Fall 2024.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, running a company isn’t easy, I had to overcome trials, errors, losses, and gains. I am a determined person, so I could never give up on my vision. I did a lot of research so I can prepare myself with this project.  My strength and faith in God keeps me going. I learned that if you don’t walk out on faith you will never know if that dream, vision or business plan would succeed. You have to push yourself even on a bad day. Trusting in God, thinking positive and having sincere genuine people on your side will definitely get you through.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Women Making Positive Changes, Inc?
Women Making Positive Changes INC, established in 2016, was created based on a need in the community. After noticing a need for energetic, nonprofit work in this area, I formed our organization to provide sensible solutions.

As an organization, we have grown steadily since our inception, thanks to my dedicated team, monetary and time donations from our community.

Our mission of Woman Making Positive Changes, Inc. (WMPC) is to create a violence-free world by empowering women, men, and children through the elimination of personal and institutional violence and oppression against all people.

The majority of my funding comes from my monthly tithing. I have not received any donations. But my team helps me and I am so appreciative. God wants us to give back, so I give back to our community.

The Planning of Leonora’s Place will help to meet the needs of our community through our affordable housing project. The project is a 36-unit affordable housing complex which will break ground in West Palm Beach, Florida in 2023. My goal is to be completed by Fall 2024.

WMPC provides leadership, advocacy, education, training, technical assistance, public policy, and development,

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Where do you see your industry going over the next 5-10 years? After the 1st project is completed, I see several 36-unit affordable housing complexes in the near future not just in Florida but in other States to house the communities.

Any big shifts, changes, trends, etc.? With receiving my real estate license, I see more project planning, to assist with housing the community and helping families with new homeownership and job placement.
