Hi Devin, so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
Great to be joining you again. In a nutshell, I help people sleep so they can wake up to living their best life. Like most people who sleep well, I didn’t think too much about sleep until I realize it’s the foundation of health. I believed that sleep wasn’t that important and that it certainly wasn’t a key to accessing deeper levels of awareness, creativity, intelligence, energy, or mental performance. Sleep was just something I did every night. It wasn’t until a friend reached out and asked me if I had ever helped anyone overcome insomnia that my eyes were finally opened to the power and importance of sleep. I discover that when I was sound asleep my body was actually wide awake.
I discovered that getting quality sleep is the way to a more productive, energized, and joyful life because sleep improves every aspect of our lives – our health, relationships, careers, and performance. Sleep truly is one of the best ways we can spend our time to protect our health, our sanity and accelerate our overall performance.
As I began experimenting with my own sleep and felt the effects of how improving the quality of my nights drastically improved the quality of my days, I got certified as a Sleep Science Coach and founded Sleep Science Academy, which helps high achievers and those suffering from insomnia get and stay asleep using a unique holistic approach based in science.
How is what you do different than what’s currently available to help those suffering from insomnia?
The currently available insomnia solutions treat the symptoms of insomnia without addressing the root causes which creates temporary results.
At Sleep Science Academy we believe that sleep or lack of sleep is a result it’s not the real problem. We give people the support and tools they need to address the root causes of insomnia vs treating the symptoms with band-aids like supplements, medication, and traditional sleep hygiene advice.
We’ve found that it takes addressing sleep holistically to create sleep and life-changing results and that when you get your mind out of the way of your body… sleep happens naturally.

Why do you think so many people right now are experiencing insomnia and sleep challenges?
So many people right now are experiencing insomnia and sleep challenges because of stress. A stressed body and mind won’t rest.
As a society, we have forgotten how to “turn off” and the result is insomnia and sleep challenges. Also, people look for the “quick fix” which sometimes can be helpful in the short term but at the cost of long-term lasting results.
Our sleep is usually a reflection of what’s going on in our life. When we are at peace, we sleep peacefully. When we are stressed and anxious we toss and turn which can lead to chronic insomnia.
What are 3 tips or suggestions you can share with those suffering from chronic insomnia?

Can you share an inspiring client sleep success story with us?
Peg suffered from insomnia all her life. She told me she couldn’t remember a time when she slept well. She had tried all the popular natural remedies then resorted to taking several different types of sleeping pills… she eventually began to lose her memory and lose hope. Once Peg let go of trying to control her sleep and focused instead on changing her relationship to sleep vs trying to force it… she was able to finally sleep through the night with no medication and her memory was restored. She said she experienced a “miracle” but really she just needed to learn the how and get support.
What’s your approach to help people suffering from insomnia?
When we work with clients we take them through 3 phases.
Phase 1: We Eliminate “Bed Dread“
We support our clients to discover how to deal with all the unhelpful thoughts, emotions, physical sensations and urges that show up when they can’t sleep so that they can start sleeping as soon as possible.
Phase 2: We Reset the Bodies Sleep System
We help clients learn how to retrain their mind and body that bed equals sleep and nothing else. Our proprietary step-by-step process helps them retrain their body and mind to rest again
Phase 3: We Increase Your Sleep Quality
We manage what we measure. So we help clients wake up feeling refreshed by leveraging the world’s most advanced sleep tracking technology so they not only feel the difference they can see it.
Any advice for people who feel like they’ve tried everything and still struggle with either getting or staying asleep?
Stop trying to force and control sleep. Sleep is the one thing in life the harder you try at it… the worse it is.
