Today we’d like to introduce you to Denisse Monge.
Hi Denisse, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Denisse Monge. I am a Salvadorian Miamian Native, I was born in San Salvador, El Salvador, and raised in Miami, Florida. My parents are hard-working immigrants and through them I learned hard-work and ethics. I am an artist and my artistry includes photography, yoga, and meditation. I am a content creator by day and a teacher at night. I am moved to New York City in 2015 and I came back to Miami in 2020. I am currently teaching at The Art of Movement Miami, Healhaus (worldwide) and creating every day!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I know that being an entrepreneur is my path. I know once you accept the path of entrepreneurship, you accept the difficulties that come for the glories that rise from the struggles. It has not been easy but it has been rewarding. I started my business called dm6 designs in 2012 as a marketing agency. I had the opportunity to work with different brands. In 2015, I decided to become a yoga teacher and my little marketing agency had its first reiteration. This year, I also moved to New York City and New York is a different beast, I was a Latina yoga teacher in a huge city with no relationships or in’s to the fitness industry. I work really hard for the three years – no breaks, taking gigs, night shifts, everything. I studied a lot and train a lot with world-class teachers. Personally to me- the best teacher’s in the yoga industry. Fast-forward to 2020, I am full- time artist/teacher growing and expanding and currently teaching worldwide through ZOOM!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a trained fine arts photographer who graduated from the New World School of the Arts. I am a trained 1000 hr Yoga teacher with certifications from Laughing Lotus and Katonah Theory. I teach intuitive flow that focuses on listening to the body’s needs. I can look at someone and listen to their body and give them a sequence that works for their body. Every body is so different. Yoga has become like manufacture- one size fits all, I challenge that. What I am most proud of is the way I hold space for my students and for myself. I believe – the effort you put in will get you to the grace you deserve. What sets me apart from other teachers is that I am different.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
“Luck has to find you working.” so I have been lucky because I am always working. 😉
