Meet Denise Fuller of NASNPRO in Treasure Coast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise Fuller.

In 1994, Denise went to esthetic school in Fort Lauderdale and fell in love with skincare and the spa industry. Having an illustrious career working at some of the most prestigious spas in the world, editor and chief of a national esthetic magazine, writer and educator. She realized there was something missing in her beloved industry. In 2004, she reached out to an industry expert and together they formed a grassroots complimentary organization called the Florida Aesthetic Network. Over years, the network grew nationwide and the name was changed to the National Aesthetic Spa Network. NASN provided a forum for neutral education in a relaxed environment among professionals. With each year, the organization grew with more members and partnerships with professional skincare and spa companies. Estheticians and spa professionals are provided free membership so that they will gain access to business development tools, scholarships and discount to NASNPRO skincare and spa conferences. Keeping membership complimentary is something near and dear to Denise’s heart. At the age of 41, she suddenly became a widow when her husband was shot and killed. She leaned upon her industry and they were there to offer support, guide and encourage her. Not shying away from the difficulties she has faced in her life, she has met numerous woman who just like her have suffered losses personally and professionally. She now has become a beacon of inspiration and encouragement to estheticians and spa professionals and believes that NASNPRO is a gives zero back to her profession and while it is expanding nationally, her dream is to take it internationally!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been many struggles along the way. The year she decided to create the complementary network, her house was destroyed in Frances and Jeanne hurricane and her family lived in a FEMA trailer while continuing to work as an instructor and develop the format of the network.

In 2012, tragically, her husband was shot and killed leaving her suddenly a single mom. Working full-time as an editor and volunteering time and efforts to NASN, it was a challenge to juggle a hurting family and create a work-life balance. If it wouldn’t have been for her faith, friends and people like Pastor Russ and Shari Debord of Sunset Chapel and the Children’s Bereavement Center in Miami, these personal partnerships helped her to gain strength and face each challenge. No matter, what the difficulties of life throw, you cannot do it alone. When you are a hurting family, you need support, spiritual counsel and encouragement. Through this support, she found the strength to jump full time into NASNPRO. No more part-time or as Kevin O’Leary, from Shark Tank, would say, that the business is a hobby. To be an entrepreneur takes faith, commitment and passion, no matter what happens to keep going and moving towards success.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about NASNPRO – what should we know?
Denise R Fuller is a licensed esthetician and is considered an industry expert in her field. Each decision for NASNPRO is made with the esthetician, beauty therapist and spa professional in mind. The day to day operations are the responsibility of Denise and she oversees, the nationwide conferences, educational publication, members, sponsors and works closely with sales director and the entire team to ensure that the organization achieves its objectives and stays true to its mission statement.

I am most proud that from our first meeting in 2004, we only had 12 estheticians and served granola bars and bottled water, we have grown to over 10k members, have NASNPRO events nationwide in beautiful country clubs and conference centers. No more granola bars! And with all the growth and expansion we have stayed true to our mission statement to create a membership network for free with incredible benefits.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Honesty and integrity. You cannot compromise your ethics and believe that people will want to work with you.
