Today we’d like to introduce you to Deanndra Ferguson.
Hi Deanndra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey into DJing actually started by chance. One night, I was out with friends and had a random experience that introduced me to DJing in a completely different way. I didn’t know the first thing about being a DJ at the time, but something about the experience clicked. I had a real lightbulb moment and thought, this is what I want to do.
I went home that night and started researching DJing, the industry, and what it could potentially look like as a career. During that process, I came across Scratch DJ Academy, which gave me a path to actually learn the craft and take the idea seriously. After giving it a lot of thought and doing more research into careers in music and entertainment, I decided this was something I genuinely wanted to pursue.
My natural love for music was a big part of that decision. I’ve always been drawn to the way music can influence emotions, bring people together, and completely change the energy in a room. I realized that DJing gave me an opportunity to combine that passion for music with creativity, performance, and connecting with people.
From there, I committed myself to learning the craft, gaining experience, and building my career. What started as a spontaneous moment has ultimately grown into D.Supreme – a brand and career that I’m continuing to develop today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like any career, especially one in the entertainment industry, I’ve faced challenges and obstacles along the way. Building a career takes time, consistency, patience, and a willingness to keep going even when things don’t always work out as planned.
I’ve never expected the journey to be easy, and I’ve always understood that building a career takes hard work and persistence. There have been moments of uncertainty and situations where I’ve had to prove myself and my abilities. I’ve learned that talent alone isn’t always enough – you have to continue developing your craft, build relationships, remain persistent, and believe in yourself and your vision even when the path forward isn’t always clear.
Those experiences haven’t always been easy, but they’ve helped shape me both personally and professionally. They’ve taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of continuing to invest in myself and my growth. Looking back, I can see that some of the challenges I’ve faced have pushed me to become more intentional about my career and the direction I want to take my brand.
I’m still learning and growing, but I believe every challenge has played a role in getting me to where I am today. The road hasn’t always been smooth, but I haven’t allowed the difficult moments to stop me from continuing to pursue what I love.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a professional DJ and Entertainer, and my work centers around creating memorable experiences through music. Through my brand, D.Supreme, I provide entertainment for a variety of events, including weddings, private celebrations, corporate events, resort functions, and other special occasions. I specialize in open-format DJing and tailoring the music and overall experience to fit the event, the audience, and the energy of the room.
As my career has evolved, I’ve also expanded my vision through Supreme Events, my events company. Supreme Events represents the bigger picture of what I’m building and allows me to grow beyond DJing by exploring additional opportunities within the events and entertainment industry. While D.Supreme remains my personal DJ brand, Supreme Events is the business I’m continuing to develop and grow around that vision.
One of the things I’m most known for is my versatility and ability to read a crowd. No two events are exactly alike, so I don’t believe in taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether I’m playing for an intimate celebration or a large-scale event, I pay attention to the people in the room and understand how to build and maintain the right energy through music. My goal is always to create an experience that feels natural, engaging, and memorable.
What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come and what I’ve been able to build through consistency, hard work, and a genuine love for what I do. I’ve gone from someone who knew nothing about DJing to building a career and brands that reflect both where I started and where I see myself going. I’m proud of the relationships I’ve built, the opportunities I’ve had, and the trust clients and partners have placed in me over the years.
I think what sets me apart is the combination of my versatility, professionalism, and the level of care I put into my work. Music is personal, and I don’t take for granted the trust people place in me to help create the atmosphere for some of their most important moments. I bring my own perspective and style to what I do while remaining adaptable enough to connect with different audiences. At the end of the day, I want people to remember more than just the songs that were played – I want them to remember how the experience made them feel.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My Mom has always been one of my biggest supporters. When I decided that I wanted to become a DJ, she encouraged me to go for it and supported me in pursuing something that was outside of the traditional career path. Having someone believe in you when you’re taking a chance on yourself can make a huge difference.
My mentors, DJ Immortal and DJ Bounce, also played an important role in my journey. They helped guide me during my time at Scratch DJ Academy, where I was learning the fundamentals of DJing and developing my skills. Their guidance and knowledge helped me build a strong foundation as I began finding my own style and direction.
I’ve also been fortunate to have family members and close friends who have consistently been some of my biggest cheerleaders. Some have supported me from the beginning, while others have continued to support my business by becoming repeat clients and trusting me to be part of their important celebrations and events.
I’m grateful for all of them because I don’t believe success is something you achieve completely on your own. The encouragement, guidance, trust, and support I’ve received along the way have all played a meaningful role in helping me get to where I am today.
