Meet Day-Ja La Dama of Lobo-Jack in Hialeah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Day-Ja La Dama.

So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Being the daughter of the owner of the most popular night club in the 80’s in Nicaragua, Lobo Jack Night Club, I was introduced to the music and entertainment life at an early age. Always being into music, I would join small music groups in school. At the age of 14, I performed my first rap song in the middle school talent show. Since then, I knew rapping was my passion. Talent show after talent show, it lead me to learn new techniques and how to be a great performer. During one high school talent show, I was actually disqualified for bringing a show with too many background dancers which gave me more motivation to bring it bigger! After high school, it didn’t stop there. Not having a manager or booking agent or knowing which road to take first I booked my own shows through the NewTimes newspaper. My first booking was for a competition to become signed to a small label.

Unfortunately, I did not win that contest. But being the person I was, I signed up to try again. I was not happy with not winning. In my second try, I won First Place! I was offered my first contract. Reading over the contract I was not convinced with what they offered and forfeit the signing. once again, I went back to promoting myself. I starting performing bigger venues including Calle Ocho, Power96 events, Wepa and Telemundo; Performing side by side with Sien El Lethal, who was signed with Fat Joe at the time. Eventually, I got noticed by Keep in Touch Productions and JC Entertainment. Being apart of both teams I had the privilege Of opening for John Secada, Stevie B., Kayla from the Pussy Cat Dolls, Sean Paul and Crystal Waters just to name a few. I went on performing for most LGBT events in South Florida. I got invited to New York as a guest on a radio station which opened even more doors for me.

As time passed, I continued to manage myself and learn from mistakes that I had gotten myself into. I was asked to perform at a local Gentleman’s Club. Performing shows I decided to give other local artists a chance to perform as well which lead me to just hosting the events. As time passed, I was discovered by Katrina, a promoter for another night Club in Miami. I was asked to be on her YouTube series reality show “Love of the Hustle” Season Two. As the only Latina on the show, it was a great stepping stone in which I was then recruited for another reality show called “Trom”. Learning about the true intentions of the creators I decided to leave mid-season. The show never aired. Obstacle after obstacle, I never gave up, it made me work harder every time. I’ve had the privilege to even manage artist from Australia and Miami. I continue to manage and promote myself, perform every event I can and work hard. I currently host at many clubs in Miami, Feature in small short films and star in “The Day-ja show” at Kingdom studios and have my own segment ”La Corriente” on the Manny Riich show at the Gr8FM. It hasn’t been an easy journey to get to where I am today but I don’t give up! It’s Day-ja La Dama, all day every day!

Has it been a smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t have chosen it any other way! I’ve been told I won’t make it, I’ve lost competitions and I’ve been sold dreams that don’t go anywhere.

We’d love to hear more about Lobo Jack Entertainment.
Lobo Jack Entertainment is as it reads: Entertainment. We promote artists from all parts of the world, from Miami to Australia even India. We are internationally known by many and our numbers will continue to rise as we introduce to the world the many talents that are hidden in all corners. We book artists for venues, films, competitions and radio interviews. Models, photographers, actors, musicians, artists and all who apply.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Miami is full of talent but also competition. It’s very hard to find people who truly want to see you succeed. It’s the reason why we travel around to look for the talent we do, people who do what they love from the heart and work hard to get where they are. We must start to encourage one another. Where there’s talent there’s hard work behind it. Some have cried blood instead of tears and those are the stars we want to shine even brighter.
