Meet David Smith of SmithInc. in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Smith.

David, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I got started in the photography industry out of frustration, to be honest. As a Fashion Designer and Fashion Stylist by trade, I worked with a lot of photographers and media colleagues who really couldn’t deliver my specific visions to tell my story properly. So, I stuck to that old saying, “If you want something done right, you’ve gotta do it yourself.” Although, I have always admired and have had a love for photography. When I was younger, I owned a film camera.

I got where I am today due to me already being well known in the fashion industry here in South Florida. I used my contacts from my previous professions to help me get started. From there, it took a lot of trust, hard work, marketing, research and oh yeah, HARD WORK.

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. For one, the most obvious struggle is figuring how to stand out in such a creative but oversaturated market here in South Florida. My uniqueness and creativity keep me thriving to create content that is not only different and unique but also affects you in some type of way. I guess another struggle for me early on was figuring out how to make money consistently once I found a lane of my own. When I took my focus off of that and put it towards the client’s need, I figured out how to better serve people and how to best supply my client with timeless material. Everything else fell into place accordingly. I’ve had more struggles, but I think these are the most significant so far in my life.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the SmithInc. story. Tell us more about it.
I am a full-time freelance int’l. published photographer who specializes in High-End Fashion Photography. I am also known mostly for being a Fashion Designer down here in South Florida as well as a Creative Director and Fashion Stylist. What I am most proud of is pleasing people through visually appealing ideas and concepts that are brought to life for there pleasure. I am a creative and what sets me apart from others in my field is my ability to apply multiple talents to one project giving me a more understanding and perspective. When I shoot, you aren’t just getting a photographer, but a stylist who provides clothing, a creative director telling you how to move and how to set up shop to execute a shoot properly.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck hasn’t really played a role really. Although, persistency definitely has.
